Design & Display
Redmi Note 9 and Realme 6i both are well-built devices. While talking about Redmi Note 9 we have a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection at the front instead of Gorilla Glass 3 on the Realme. Whereas at the back and the frame of both the devices are made up of plastic. At the front, we get a much premium looking 6.53-inch display with a cut out of the front camera. It’s an FHD+ panel. The Realme 6i has a 6.5 inches HD+ panel. So if content viewing is what you do the most on your phone, then we consider you to go with Redmi Note 9 here.
Performance & Software
At this price point, both the devices are well ahead of when we compare them with Samsung’s and Vivo’s Devices. While comparing with each other, Redmi Note 9 has Helio G85 inside whereas Realme 6i has Helio G80. Both CPUs are based on 12nm architecture, and features (2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55).
The main difference between Helio G85 and G80 is in GPU clock speed. Both chipsets come with Mali G52 MC2 GPU but GPU clock speed is 1000MHz on Helio G85 whereas Helio G80’s GPU comes with 950MHz clock speed. To be honest this might not make a huge difference in gaming performance. Instead, Realme 6i should offer better gaming performance because it comes with only HD+ resolution, which means GPU will have to deal with fewer pixels compared to Redmi Note 9.
Both devices can handle the day-to-day task without any problems and also are capable of gaming. As both the SoC are marketed as Gaming chipset on budget. So you won’t regret getting any one of them when it comes to performance. Talking about the Software, Redmi Note 9 comes with MIUI 11 on top of Android 10 and Realme comes with their own Realme UI 1.0 on top of Android 10. When it comes to software, it is mostly what you prefer. So we leave the software department for you to decide and tell us in the comment section below.
Optics
For the Cameras, we have a Quad Camera set-up on both the devices. Talking about Redmi Note 9 we get a 48MP f/1.8 primary camera shooter which is backed up by an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide-angle lens. While the other two are 2MP each depth sensor and Macro lens.
While for the Realme 6i we also get a 48MP f/1.8 lens and for ultra-wide we get 8MP f/2.3 shooter. Among the other two, we have a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP Black and White lens. At the front we get a 13MP f/2.3 shooter in Redmi and in Realme we get a better 16MP f/2.0 selfie shooter.
Both the devices are capable of 1080p video @30fps from both front and back cameras. With all regular features for capturing photos such as HDR, Night Mode.
Battery
Even in the battery department, these devices show some similarities. Redmi has a 5020 mAh battery with support for 18W fast Charging and similarly, Realme has a 5000 mAh battery with support for 18W fast Charging. Both devices will last you a day without any hiccups. Realme may last longer due to low-resolution displays.
