Apple launched the iPhone 12 Pro along with the regular iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, & the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Design & Display
Just like the regular iPhone 12, here we get a 6.1-inch AMOLED display, with a similar-sized notch and the same resolution. Though the display on 12 Pro is brighter as it can go upto 800 nits (HBM), and 1200 nits (peak). As it’s an HDR panel we get support for HDR10 & Dolby Vision. Unlike other flagships in 2020, iPhone 12 Pro still ships with a 60Hz display. This year, Apple has gone with a flat edge design and we get a similar treatment with the iPhone 12 Pro too. At the back, we get a huge camera bump housing the triple camera setup and the LIDAR sensor. The device is IP68 dust and water resistance too.
Performance & Software
The iPhone 12 Pro is powered by the Apple A14 Bionic SoC. This is a 5nm CPU clocked at 2×3.1 GHz Firestorm + 4×1.8 GHz Icestorm Cores. Here, we get a 4 core Apple GPU handling the Graphics duties. The device is equipped with 4GB RAM and 128/256GB/512GB of NVMe storage. On the software side of things, currently, the device is running on iOS 15.5 and might get software updates and security patches upto 2025.
When launched, iPhone 12 Pro was shipped with iOS 14.1 while now, it’s running iOS 15.5 and the device will get regular updates until 2025.
Camera
iPhone 12 Pro features a 12MP f/1.6 main camera that has 27% better light capture than the previous generation. Thus, it can take images in Night Mode with more details. It has Smart HDR 3 which has improved white balance, texture, and saturation. The secondary camera is a 12MP f/2.4 ultra-wide sensor. This camera setup can record HDR and Dolby Vision HDR Videos upto 60 fps. Along with that we also get a 12 MP, f/2.0 2X Telephoto camera While at the front we get a 12MP f/2.2 sensor. The iPhone 12 Pro can capture 4K at 60fps from both its front and rear camera setup.
Battery & Other Features
Just like the regular iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Pro also comes with a 2815 mAh battery and supports upto 20W of fast charging. Though this time the charger is not provided in the box, you only get a Type C to lightning cable. The device also supports mag-safe charging of upto 15W. Along with all this, the device is equipped with features like a Stereo Speaker setup, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0 and 3D Face ID, and also the Ultra-Wideband support.
