The year 2020 is the year of gaming. After the Nvidia GTX 3000 series, AMD has revealed its Radeon RX 6000 series after revealing its Ryzen 5000 series Gaming CPU.
With the recent AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors and Radeon RX 6000, the brand is trying to provide gamers with the best gaming experience. AMD has built both the CPU and the GPU on the new 7nm RDNA 2 architecture. It also provides up to 2x improvement in performance than the previous generation AMD flagship while supporting the latest Microsoft DirectX 12 Ultimate API.Â
AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series Graphics Cards
The Radeon RX 6000 series features three graphic cards: AMD RADEONâ„¢ RX 6900 XT, AMD RADEONâ„¢ RX 6800 XT, and AMD RADEONâ„¢ RX 6800. The prices are $579 for the RX 6800, $649 for the RX6800XT, and the juggernaut RX 6900 will set you back $999.
AMD Radeon RX6800 XT
Let’s start with the potential best-seller, AMD Radeon RX6800 XT. Considering the price and the performance, the RX 6800XT will be the best-selling graphic card out of the lot. The RX 6800XT features 16GB VRAM OF 16Gbps on a 256-bit wide memory bus and 72 compute units.Â
Moreover, the boost frequency is 2250 Mhz under suitable conditions for short periods but can clock up to 2015 Mhz under heavy gaming, also known as a Game clock. The 6000 series also features a 128 MB of Inifinity Cache, giving twice the bandwidth at much lower power. Similarly, the Infinity Cache will help you minimize DRAM bottlenecks, latency, and power consumption during high-resolution gameplays at 4k or even 1440p.
AMD Radeon RX6800
Secondly, The cheapest out of the lot is the RX6800, which will compete with the Nvidia RTX 3070. AMD claims the RX6800 to be faster than the last-gen Nvidia flagship RTX 2080ti, which performs similarly to the RTX 3070. Although the drop in price from RX6800XT, there isn’t much difference in RX6800 from the RX6800XT graphics card.Â
Likewise, The main difference is the drop in compute units to 60. And the Boost frequency is dropped to 2105 MHz, and the game frequency is also lower to a maximum up to 1815 MHz. Besides that, the Total board power of the GPU is also lower in RX6800 with 250W than the 300W GPU power in RX6800XT and RX6900XT.

Lastly, AMD has given a severe threat to the US$1499 RTX 3090, with its US$999 Radeon RX6900XT. On paper, With Smart Access Memory and something called “Rage Mode” enabled, Radeon RX6900XT performs similar and even better in some cases than the RTX 3090. Similarly, the graphics card features 80 compute units and the same 16GB VRAM, and the same boost frequency and clock speed as of 6800XT.
