Apple is now set to release the iOS 16.3 update next week, after the last update of iOS 16.2. Futhermore the update will mainly address bugs and errors, with the global release of the advanced Data Protection Feature. Let’s get into the details.
iOS 16.3 Highlights
Highlighting the iOS 16.3 main features, Advanced Data Protection will now be released globally. The feature was a part of iOS 16.2 which was available for users in the USA. The feature enables the use of physical security keys to protect Apple ID meaning users will be able to configure a physical hardware device as a second factor for two-factor authentication for their accounts.
Apple has covered 23 categories of data encrypted including Photos, Reminders, Voice Memos, Health data, iCloud drive, and others. Once the data is encrypted, even if Apple’s servers were hacked, your data would be impenetrable to hackers.
The issue of horizontal lines displaying on the iPhone 14 Pro will be resolved as well. Lately, iPhone 14 pro users have been facing the problem of seeing weird horizontal lines whenever the phones were locked. Apple will also fix issues with the lock screen where the widget did not accurately displayed the status of the Home app.
The iOS 16.3 will also bring Black Unity wallpaper to celebrate Black History Month. The update is also expected to fix a Freeform flaw where some drawing strokes made with an Apple Pencil or finger may not show up in shared boards.
