Xiaomi has dominated the smartphone shipment share of Q1 2022 in Nepal. As per our reliable source, with 36% of smartphone shipment share in Q1 2022, Xiaomi is the best (no.1) smartphone brand in Nepal in terms of market share. Xiaomi is followed by Samsung with a 28% market share.Â
Xiaomi Nepal has been doing good with its smartphone launches as well as pricing. They price their smartphone aggressively and doesn’t take much time to launch new device (which are globally launched). Likewise, Samsung Nepal has also been good with its product launch and pricing these days.
Similarly, Realme is the 3rd smartphone brand in Nepal with a 14% market share as the company shipped 67,500 smartphones in Q1 2022. However, Realme also sells some smartphones under Narzo branding in Nepal which also has a 3% market share in Q1 2022.
Other companies like Vivo, ZTE, and Oppo have captured 14%, 8%, and 3% of the smartphone market share respectively. Although Apple’s iPhone is among the most talked-about smartphones in Nepal, only 3710 iPhones were imported during the whole of Q1 2022. Gionee, OnePlus, and Nokia also did some decent jobs as they shipped 3100, 2518, and 2400 smartphones respectively.
How did Xiaomi Nepal Become the best Smartphone Brand in Nepal in Q1 2022?
Xiaomi’s Redmi Note series is very popular in Nepal. The recently launched Redmi Note 11 is currently getting good sales numbers. Even the Redmi Note 10 Pro was a killer phone under 30000 (6/64GB) in Nepal. Likewise, Poco X3 Pro was loved by gamers as it was packed with a flagship-grade Snapdragon 860 chipset at just Rs. 31,999. Other devices such as Redmi 9A/9C, Poco C3, and Poco C31 were among the best-selling entry-level smartphones in Nepal. Also, the company has recently launched new devices such as Redmi Noto 11 Pro 5G, Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12, and Xiaomi 12X and will be hoping to improve their number in Q2 2022.
What About Other Samsung and Realme?
Samsung’s A-series and M-series devices are very popular in Nepal. Samsung Galaxy M32 and Galaxy F22 were one of the best-selling budget smartphones in recent times. Recently, the company has launched over 5 new smartphones in Nepal: Galaxy A23, Galaxy A33 5G, Galaxy A53 5G, Galaxy A73 5G, and Galaxy M33 5G. Also, their flagship S-series device like Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra is doing a decent job in Nepal.
Realme’s budget smartphones like Realme 8 and Realme 8i are among the best smartphone under 30000 in Nepal. Also, the entry-level smartphones from Realme like C11 2021, C20, C21, and C21Y are also good for the price. As I mentioned earlier, the company is also launching some smartphones under the Narzo series in Nepal and they are also making some impact in the Nepali smartphone market as well.
Problem with Other Brands
Normally, Vivo and Oppo smartphones are overpriced in Nepal. Their smartphone pack really low-value packages which has directly affected their sales number. However, Vivo somehow has managed to get an 8% market share which may be because of marketing strategy or Vivo’s own fan base. Some other companies are lagging behind due to lack of media coverage and some other factors.
