After the demise of Huawei, many Chinese smartphone companies, including Xiaomi, have been benefitted to a great extent. Especially, Xiaomi was able to increase its market share significantly.
As per the market research firm Canalys, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi Corp transcended Apple Inc in the second quarter. As per the report, the Chinese smartphone giant saw an 83% Year-on-Year (YoY), which was the highest among the top-five smartphone companies.
Even with the highest growth, Xiaomi couldn’t take the first spot from Samsung. Nevertheless, with innovations and advancements made by Xiaomi, an increase in market share is expected. Let’s have a glance at the major summaries of Canalys’ report.
Canalys Q2 2021 Report
As per the second-quarter report by Canalys, Xiaomi took the second spot for the first time in history. Xiaomi acquired a 17% share of the worldwide shipments, increasing its market share by 3% from the previous quarter. On the other hand, Samsung held its crown as the top smartphone manufacturer with a market share of 19%. However, Apple descended to third place with a market share of 14%.
Moreover, the report also showed that the average selling price of Xiaomi phones is about 40% cheaper than Samsung phones and about 75% cheaper than Apple phones. Also, the shipment of Xiaomi escalated by more than 300% in Latin America, 150% in Africa, and 50% in Western Europe. Â
