Foldable Smartphone Market Trends:
Samsung led the foldable phone market in the last part of 2023, even though its Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 didn’t do as well as expected. The market grew by 33%, hitting 4.2 million units. But Huawei is likely to take over the lead in the first part of 2024, which would be a big change. Huawei and its sister brand Honor are growing fast in the foldable market and are becoming real competition for Samsung.
In the last quarter, Samsung had four of the top-selling models, with the Galaxy Z Flip 5 at the top. But Huawei’s Mate X5 and Pocket 2 might shake things up next quarter. Even though Samsung was the first to make foldable phones popular, it’s facing some challenges now, especially since it’s no longer the world’s biggest phone maker.
Huawei Taking Over?
If Huawei takes over, it could see a huge increase in sales, maybe even more than double. But Samsung isn’t just sitting back – it’s launching the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 soon, which could change the game again. Chinese brands offer lots of different foldable phones at different prices, which gives them an edge. But it’s hard to say for sure who will come out on top. We’ll know more in a few weeks when the new sales numbers come out.
