The Pixel event is right around the corner and we are eagerly waiting for Google to go on the stage and launch the 6th iteration of their Pixel line of devices. Google announced it back in August, where few of the YouTubers got their hands on the Pixel 6 series. This year we will be getting upgraded Camera sensors, Bigger displays, Google’s own Tensor Chip, and more. Let’s have a deep dive into what we can expect from the Google Pixel 6 series.
Google Pixel 6 OverviewÂ
Design and Display – High Refresh-rate AMOLED
Unlike the previous year, we have got some changes in the naming convention of the pixel devices this time: Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The Pro has a bigger 6.71-inch display compared to the 6.4-inch on the regular pixel. We will be having a larger battery, triple camera setup compared to dual on the Pixel 6, and a 12GB RAM option for the Pro.Â
These are some of the biggest Pixel devices in terms of size. Talking about the display, I already told you the sizes, and these are HDR10+ certified 120Hz AMOLED panels on the Pro while the regular pixel will have a 90Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 6 Pro will be having a QHD+ resolution while the regular Pixel 6 gets the FHD+ treatment. Nevertheless, these are going to be some of the best smartphone displays in the industry.Â
Camera’s – 50MP Camera on a Google Pixel
You can’t talk about Pixels without mentioning Camera and this time we have sen a major overhaul. The Pixel 6 Series have upgraded optics with a triple camera setup on the Pro and dual on the regular pixel. The Pixel 6 will be having a 50MP Samsung GN1 Sensor with PDAF and OIS. Along with that, we will be having 12MP ultra-wide and an extra 48 MP Telephoto with 4X optical zoom on the 6 Pro. While for the front inside the punch hole, Pixel 6 will be having an 8MP sensor while the 6 Pro is treated with a 12MP one.Â
With all these upgraded Camera specs we would love to see what Google does when all this is paired with the computational knowledge of Google and the ISP on the Google Tensor chip. As we have started to talk about the chip, let’s talk about the performance.Â
Performance – Google Tensor ChipÂ
Unlike the last Pixel 5, this time the Pixel 6 series is a full-fledged flagship lineup from google. The Google Pixel 6 lineup will be powered by Google’s own Tensor Chip. This will be an octa-core SoC, though the exact core’s configuration has not been disclosed. We had a few leaked images but those weren’t very trustworthy. So we exactly don’t know where the Google Tensor lies in terms of performance when compared with the Snapdragon 888 or Apple’s A15 Binoc SoC. One thing that is confirmed is that it will be based on a 5nm fabrication process.Â
Talking about RAM and storage configuration, here we will be getting 8GB RAM with 128GB/256GB storage option with the regular pixel while the Pro will be treated with a 12GB RAM and 128/256/512GB storage configuration.Â
Software – Android 12 with Material YouÂ
Android has done some major UI changes with its all latest Android 12 and Google Pixel 6 series will be the first set of devices to feature this latest software treatment. Keep in mind that, Software running on the Pixels is how google intended the Android to look alike. With the new theming option, upgraded widgets panel and notification shaded with the new control center, Android 13 is a major upgrade since the introduction of Material Design with the Android 5.0 lollipop.
And as it is a Pixel device, we might definitely see some Pixel exclusive Android 12 features too. We would also like to see some extra flexibility and options in the Camera app too, as it’s really basic with not many controls for the users.Â

Battery and Charging – upto 5000mAh and Fast Wireless ChargingÂ
The regular Pixel 6 will be having an odd 4,614mAh battery while the Pixel 6 Pro is expected to have a 5000mAh cell. While both will be supporting 33W fast wired charging. Along with these devices, the all-new Pixel stand might also get announced with wireless charging support upto 23W and we assume that these new Pixels might also support 22W wireless charging. But it will be interesting to see if both the Pixels will get the 23W treatment or it will be reserved to the Pro only.Â
Google Pixel 6 Price and Release DateÂ
As Google has officially announced, the Pixel 6 series will be announced on the 19th of October along with some other made by google products. Talking about its pricing, according to the leaks the base variant of Google Pixel 6 is expected to start at €649 whereas the Pixel 6 Pro has been rumored to start at €899. As these are the full-fledged flagship from Google, this hefty price tag is expected as other OEMs have already reached four-figure prices for their flagships.
But like the last time, these devices will also be officially released for 8 countries: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, the UK, and the US. But if, if between an inverted comma, the Google Pixel 6 is launched in Nepal by any chance, we expect the price of the Google Pixel 6 in Nepal to be Rs.100,000 for the base model, and the Pixel 6 Pro might start at the price of Rs. 135,000. Â
