Huawei announced the addition of a new midrange series to the Huawei Nova lineup on September 23, 2021- Huawei Nova 9 series. The Nova 9 series comprises two Huawei smartphones- Huawei Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro. The two smartphones have much in similarity but the Pro version has few advanced features compared to the non-Pro device.
Both Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro are embellished with OLED displays, 50MP quad camera and are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G chipset.  Huawei Nova 9 Series- Overview
Design and Display
At the first glance, you will find it difficult to differentiate between the Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro from the back. Both the devices in the Nova 9 series have the same looks with the same camera arrangement and the shiny ‘Nova’ logo on the rear panel. However, at the front panel, Huawei Nova 9 houses its single selfie camera inside a punch-hole cutout at the top center while the Nova Pro houses its dual-camera inside a pill-shaped cutout at the top left corner of the screen. The Nova 9 Pro is bigger in dimension and heavier in weight compared to the non-pro version.
Huawei has embellished both devices with an OLED screen. The Nova 9 flaunts a gorgeous 6.57 inches display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. Nova 9 Pro, on the other hand, flaunts a 6.72 inches HDR10 display with a resolution of 1236 x 2676 pixels. Both the devices in the series feature a 90Hz refresh rate, a 300Hz sampling rate along with 1Billion colors facilitating the users to enhance their visual experience.
Performance
The devices on the new Nova 9 series have the same performance powered with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G processor. Unfortunately, as the US restricted any America based companies to supply 5G chips to Huawei, Qualcomm has disabled 5G connectivity in the 778G processor for these devices. While these are the same SoC used in devices like Samsung A52s 5G, Mi 11 Lite 5G NE, and also in the iQOO Z5.
Moving on, the devices run on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 2.0 operating system. Adreno 642L handles the GPU of the devices. Both the devices are coupled with 8GB RAM. The Nova 9 series will be available in two storage variants each- 128GB and 256GB.Â
Also, both smartphones have a Vapor Chamber (VC) and graphene cooling system to keep the temperature in check.
Camera
As for the camera, Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro-style a Quad camera setup at the rear panel comprising of a 50MP RYYB primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP depth lens, and a 2MP macro lens. Moreover, you can capture up to 4K videos at 30fps. Â
Similarly at the front, Nova 9 features a 32MP single selfie shooter. Nova 9 Pro, diversely, sports another 32MP ultrawide camera along with the 32MP primary selfie camera at the front. With the ultrawide lens, you can fit more content in one picture.Â

Battery
Talking about the battery, the Huawei Nova 9 packs a 4300 mAh battery with fast charging support of 66W. With it, Huawei claims that the device will be fully juiced up in just 38 minutes.
Huawei Nova 9 Pro, on the other side, packs a 4000 mAh battery with fast charging support of 100W which supposedly fully charges the device in just 20 minutes. Additionally, both the device support reverse charging. Â
Huawei Nova 9 Series- Price and Availability
Huawei Nova 9 series will go for sale starting from the end of September. The price of Huawei Nova 9 and 9 Pro will start at CNY 2,699 and CNY 3,499. Similarly, we can expect the devices to start at the price of NPR 54,000 and NPR 69,000 for Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro respectively once it launches in Nepal. Â
