Finally, after months of silence, Huawei has stirred the market by revealing the upcoming Huawei P50 series. Unlike other Huawei series, the P50 series does not have a Pro+ model but just vanilla and a Pro phone. Nevertheless, the new devices have something more exciting packed inside it. Huawei has decided to make some upgrades in cameras and also has chosen to make things exciting with chipsets.

Design and Display
As for the design and display, both the devices are rough of the same size and look the same at the front. Both the devices feature a waterdrop notch at the top center that houses the selfie camera.
As for the display, Huawei P50 Pro flaunts the beautifully curved 6.6” OLED display with a resolution of 1225 x 2700 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate.
On the other hand, Huawei P50 features a slightly smaller 6.5” OLED panel with the same resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. Similarly, both the devices have the same sampling rate of 300Hz and support HDR.
Performance and software
Huawei has brought some different and intriguing changes in the chipset and performance. Both the devices run on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 2.0. The new Huawei P50 Pro will be available in two versions of the chipset- one with Kirin 9000 and others with the Snapdragon 888. However, even though the chipsets are powerful enough to support 5G, both versions only support 4G connectivity. Furthermore, the Pro version is available in different variants. The base model is coupled with 8GB RAM with 128/256/512GB storage along with an NM card slot. Additionally, the top-specced model has 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
Huawei P50, on the other hand, comes with only one type of chipset- Snapdragon 888. This device also supports the 4G connectivity. As for the memory, the P50 is available in two variants of 8GB RAM coupled with 128GB/256GB storage. It also has a microSD card slot.
Camera
Looks like Huawei has made some extra efforts on improving the camera in the new P50 series. Both the devices in the series feature the same main camera of 50MP at the rear. And, they also feature the same 13MP selfie camera housed inside the water-drop notch at the top center.
The pro version features a 40MP black and white camera and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. They are assisted by Laser autofocus. Additionally, the Pro version features a periscope lens that can zoom up to 3.9x magnification.
As for the P50, it features a 12MP ultra-wide lens. As for the periscope, it has it, which is the first time in the history of Huawei’s non-Pro model.
Battery
Talking about the battery, the P50 series has similar-sized batteries of 4,360mAh for the Pro model and 4,100mAh for the vanilla. Also, both the devices support 66W fast charging on USB-C and 50W wirelessly.
Price and Availability
Huawei is planning to distribute the P50 series globally; however, Huawei has not announced the official date for global distribution yet.
Nevertheless, the P50 Pro will be available for pre-order starting 30th July and the devices will be shipped starting August 12. The price of S888 8GB/128GB memory is CNY 6000. And, the price of both S888 and Kirin 9000 chips with 256GB and 512GB is CNY 6,500 and CNY 7,500 respectively. Moreover, the 12GB/512GB memory will be available in two color variants at the price of CNY 8,000 and CNY 8,400.
Similarly, the vanilla version will be available from September. The price of the 8GB/128GB model and 8GB/256GB model is CNY 4,500 and CNY 5,000 respectively.
