iPhone 14 and 14 Plus launched with the old A15 chip, satellite messaging & e-SIM only in the US

Finally, the wait is over !! Apple unveiled its new iPhone 14 series: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and 14 Pro max, along with three watches: Apple watch ultra, watch series 8, and watch SE, and an Air-pods Pro 2 in an event yesterday. These new iPhones will be available for order from Friday and watches to get ordered Wednesday. As analysts expected, Apple didn’t raise the price of its new iPhones much. In this article, we discuss iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus specifications, features, pricing, and availability.  

Specifications of iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 plus

iPhone 14 & 14 Plus comes with a dimension of 5.78 x 2.81 x 0.31 and 6.33 x 3.07 x 0.31 inches with a weightage of 172g and 203g respectively. They are built under a Glass front, glass back, and aluminium frame. Whereas, these models have an IP rating of 68 in terms of dust and water resistance. Furthermore, it has 6.1 & 6.7 inches Super Retina XDR OLED Dolby vision display which provides you 800nits of peak brightness respectively.

This iPhone 14 & 14 Plus uses the same Apple A15 bionic chip from its past predecessor and runs on iOS 16 using a Hexa core CPU with Apple GPU. Whereas, this model still uses the 12MP of dual camera setup at the back and front. You can get this device in the three storage configurations of 128GB ROM +6GB RAM, 256GB ROM+6GB RAM, and 512GB ROM+6GB RAM.

Now, let’s talk about their interesting satellite feature, Apple has engineered the antenna built into these iPhone cases to be able to directly send and receive data to an orbiting satellite. This service is text-only but supports two-way communication and will be used mostly in emergencies. Furthermore, Apple has said that all U.S. iPhone 14 models won’t use physical SIM cards, whereas they will be replaced with a digital e-SIM that can support multiple phone numbers withholding better security.

Pricing and availability:

The iPhone 14 will start at $799 and the plus model will cost $899. The preorder for these devices will start on Sept 9. Whereas, the official sale will go on from Sept 16 for the 14 model shipping won’t start until October. However, we may expect this new model may come soon to Nepal too. The converted price of iPhone 14 in Nepal is NPR.1,01,202 and for iPhone 14 Plus is NPR. 1,13,868.
