Overview
iPhone 14 Plus is a bigger version of the iPhone 14. Or putting it in another way it’s a lower-end version of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Also according to Apple, iPhone 14 Plus has the longest battery life of any iPhone.
Body & Design
iPhone 14 Plus comes with the same design as last year’s iPhone 13 with a glass back and aluminum frame. We get a dual camera setup on the back and the infamous notch on the front. Like with other iPhones, we do get IP68 dust and a water-resistant body. Also, the display is protected by Scratch-resistant ceramic glass.
Talking about the dimensions, iPhone 14 Plus is 160.8mm tall and 7.8mm thick. Whereas the weight is around 203g which is decent for the phone that has a 6.7inch large display.
Display
On the display side, iPhone 14 Plus comes with a large 6.7inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen. The resolution of the display is 1284 x 2778 pixels, which makes a total of 458ppi. The display also comes with a True Tone feature and supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision content.
Unfortunately, Apple has decided to go with a 60Hz refresh rate display on iPhone 14 series. So if you want a high refresh rate display then you have to go with iPhone 14 pro series.
Processor
iPhone 14 Plus features the same A15 Bionic chip as the previous precession iPhone 13 Pro Max. So we are getting one extra GPU core on the new iPhone 14 series. With a total 5-core GPU, iPhone 14 series can offer up to 18% better performance on graphics-related tasks like games.
Additionally, iPhone 14 Plus comes with 6GB RAM and up to 512GB NVMe storage options. On the software side, we get iOS 16 right out of the box.
Camera
Moving on to the camera, we get two 12MP camera sensors on the back. The main 12MP camera has a larger aperture as well as pixel size compared to iPhone 13. And because of this upgrade, iPhone 14 Plus offers better low-light photos and videos than its predecessor. Whereas a 12MP ultrawide camera remains the same.
On the front, we get a 12MP selfie camera with an f1.9 aperture and auto-focus. Finally, Apple has decided to integrate the auto-focus system on their front cameras which should help to make photos and videos a lot sharper and more focused.
It will allow more light to pass through the lens for an improved depth of field effect. As well as a strong focus during the Facetime and video calls.
Battery
As we mentioned earlier, Apple has said iPhone 14 Plus has the longest battery life on an iPhone to date. According to the company, iPhone 14 Plus offers up to 26hrs video playback and up to 100hrs music playback on a single charge. The device supports 20W fast charging through wired, 15W MagSafe, and 7.5w Qi-Wireless charging.
