Released in 2021, the LG C1 OLED TV was one of the most talked-about and loved TV internationally. After a much-awaited time, this TV was finally launched in Nepal. So, we really wanted to test is it really good just as everyone is talking about? We have been using the new LG C1 OLED TV for the past month and what a glory we had during this review period. From watching videos & movies on YouTube and on some popular streaming platforms to playing games, we didn’t miss even a chance to juice its usage. So, this is our LG C1 OLED TV review after using it for more than 2 weeks.
Before going into detail about what we think about it, let’s talk about its availability and price in Nepal. It has launched in three different display sizes which are 48inch, 55 inches, and 65 inches. The one we had was the 55-inch valued Rs. 2,64,990 fitting just perfect in our office’s room. The 48-inch is available at the price of RS. 2,43,990 and the 65 inches one comes with the price tag of Rs.4,45,990.
Build and Design
We instantly fell for the LG C1 OLED TV as soon as we unboxed it. It’s slim, sleek, and looks very similar to the previous LG TV from the C series of LG. The minimalist and polished design looks just perfect in every corner of our room. We found it even thinner than most of the premium TV currently available in the Nepali market.Â
You can see a thin bezel on all 4 sides of the TV giving it a very stylish and appealing front view. If you check it from the side, the â…” part is the same thin design and the bottom â…“ part is a little thick having all the ports for all the connectivity. This section includes 4 HDMI 2.1,3 USB ports, an Ethernet port, optical digital audio out, Antenna, and an SVC audio port.Â
Display
If you ask us to pick our favorite feature of the LG C1 OLED TV we would pick its display with no doubt. What differentiates this tv from others is it has a 4k OLED panel. If we look briefly at the Nepali market, LG is the only brand that has brought OLED panel TV currently in the Nepali market.
So, why go for an OLED panel you may ask. Unlike another panel, you would find an exquisite display. The picture colors are consistent and are even brighter and vibrant from corner to corner edge to edge. Along with that, it offers a self-illuminating pixel that brightens or darkens the individual pixels themselves giving extravagant color contrast. To elevate the viewing experience, even more, this TV also supports HDR10 and Dolby vision. LG steps up the display game even further by pairing it with the Alpha 9 Gen 4 AI 4K processor, which is the latest version of LG’s video processing hardware.
When it comes to the brightness of the screen, it was pretty decent indoors in our studio. Although, officially LG has made no comments on its brightness level, what we found in our research was its peak brightness is 750 nits (review.com)
After watching many movies including the Dolby vision ones on Netflix we can assure you that LG C1 OLED TV has one of the best displays currently available in the Nepali market. And just in case, the brighter and vibrant display is not your type of tea and true to life colors are your vibe then using the different color profiles, you can totally customize the picture profile to your taste.Â
Audio
When a good display is supported by incredible audio, the content-consuming experience reaches the next level. We found the audio system of the LG C1 OLED TV as premium as its display. It has a 2.2 sound system meaning it has 2 main speakers and 2 sub-woofers which deliver 40-watt audio. We were pretty thrilled with the sound quality delivered by this TV.
You can totally receive a personalized mini theater experience with this TV if you place it in a smaller room of your house. If you want an even more thrilling sound experience or you have placed it in a larger room, you can totally connect external speakers to it. Due to the Dolby Atmos support on this TV, the sound is immersive and multi-dimensional even on the external wired speakers and you can use the TV’s Bluetooth connectivity for connecting all your Bluetooth speakers.
We really appreciate LG for including the AI Sound pro feature in this TV which enables it to optimize the sound quality considering the content and your surroundings to provide even richer audio. We watched some thriller and horror movies like Annabelle, Godzilla, Bird Box and our watch experience was elevated even more due to this feature.
Remote
LG C1 OLED TV comes with a Magic Remote. Just like its name, it provides a magical experience while using it. This remote is a Bluetooth-enabled remote which comes with a built-in microphone supporting Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice assistant support for voice searches and commands. You can find a scrolling wheel in the middle section which we found very helpful while using UI and home page in a Wii-style motion. Along with that, for shortcuts to some major online streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney Plus.Â
Software
LG C1 OLED TV operates on Web OS 6.0. We scan the Nepali market, this is one of the best Software to operate for the TV category. LG personalizes its own OS and is a lot different than Samsung’s Tizen and Google Android TV OS. Since we were not used to this OS, we felt the Home UI was quite chunky. On the top, you can see the information tiles, below that is the trending section and has the app section at the bottom. If you enjoy the Android TV UI, You may not find the UI of this TV very appealing.
In our experience, the UI was pretty responsive and we didn’t find any lags and stutters. Talking about the app support, you would get an app store of Web OS but we didn’t find the app library diverse and vast.
The major online streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV, and YouTube are pre-installed.
Gaming
LG C1 OLED not only acts as a regular TV for watching movies but it multiplies its usability by acting as a gaming monitor. As we mentioned before, at the back you get 4 HDMI 2.1 ports that support 4K at 120Hz for better gaming. For all the gamers out there, this TV provides a Game Optimizer feature that helps you to customize the visuals, audio, and fps. On top of that, LG C1 OLED TV NVedia G-sync and AMD free sync, and its response time are just 1ms.
Our team members played games like PUBG, and Valorant, and they were quite hooked up to it.Â
Final Verdict
Overall, we really loved the new LG C1 OLED TV. After spending a month with this TV, we believe that TV is totally worthy of all the hype, and kudos to LG for launching this also in Nepal. We wouldn’t be surprised even if it claimed as the best TV currently available in Nepal.Â
We had high expectations with this TV’s display since it had an OLED panel and honestly, we received everything that we were looking for. The audio quality is substantially great, the magic remote is compact and user-friendly. The Web OS interfaces are snappy and responsive but still, there are a lot of things to improve on. It has great gaming capabilities from short lag time to high frame rate support and auto low-latency mode to fire up your gaming.
So, this TV is pretty much worth investing your money in it.
