MediaTek has just announced their newest set of SoCs, including Dimensity 1050, 930, and Helio G99. Among these, today we will be having a closer look into the latest Dimensity 1050. This SoC packs the company’s first mmWave support and is built under the 6nm fabrication process of TSMC. Letās have a look at the specifications and the availability of MediaTek 1050.Ā
MediaTek 1050 Overview
CPU Structure
MediaTek 1050 has an octa-core Core CPU with 2 Arm Cortex A-78 cores clocked at 2.5Ghz. These are handling all the powerlifting heavy tasks like video rendering, video recording, and gaming. Along with that, we get 6 efficiency cores. These are Cortex A-55 cores clocked at 2.0Ghz. As the CPU is fabricated using TSMCās N6 (6nm-class) process, we are expecting really good battery efficiency and performance at the same time.
GPU & Memory Support
This octa-core SoC from MediaTek is equipped with ARM Mali-G610 MC3 GPU. Using the latest Arm Mali-G610 graphics engine means the Dimensity 1050 provides great gaming performance and improved efficiency versus the previous generation Mali designs. The SoC supports a max display resolution of upto 2520 x 1080 and a max-refresh rate of upto 144Hz at 1080P. It also supports a 10-Bit HDR display along with HDR10+.Ā
Along with that we also get MediaTek APU 550 too. While talking about memory support, Dimensity 1050 supports both LPDDR4X and LPDDR5 RAM along with UFS 3.1 and UFS 2.1 storage.
Connectivity & ISP
These are the two of the department where MediaTek has claimed to improve the most. For the 5G connectivity, we get sub-6GHz (FR1) up to 3CC (200MHz) & mmWave (FR2) up to 4CC (400MHz) support. With this MediaTek claims that the Dimensity 1050 can connect to both simultaneously and give up to 53% faster speeds than others that can only connect to 4G LTE and mmWave simultaneously. It also has support for Bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6E standards.
MediaTek 1050 features Imagiq 760 with Dual HDR Video Capture Engine, which first features in the flagship MediaTek SoC like Dimensity 9000 & 8000. This engine allows capturing two different video streams at once. Let it be from a front or rear camera or even regular and ultra-wide at once. The SoC supports upto a 108MP Camera sensor and can capture 4K videos too.Ā
