Mediatek processors are used in most of the mid-range smartphones these days and today it announced a new processor, dimensity 1080. It is a successor to its previously launched dimensity 920. Dimensity 920 is used in various smartphones like Xiaomi Mi 11i series, Realme 9 Pro+, Vivo V23 5G, and Infinix Zero Ultra 5G. Specifications of the MediaTek’s Dimensity 1080
MediaTek dimensity 1080 is built on TSMC’s 6nm architecture. It has an octa-core CPU that has 2 ARM Cortex -A78 cores clocked at up to 2.6GHz. Furthermore, there are six ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2GHz. This processor gets ARM Mali G68 MC4 of GPU as of its predecessor.
On the memory side, it supports LPDDR 5 and storage of UFS 3.1. On the other hand, it supports 4k HDR video recording, quad camera, and camera capturing images of up to 200MP. This 200MP of camera feature is one of the remarkable attributes of the dimensity 1080 for the upcoming mid-range smartphones. Furthermore, it gives a 120Hz of refresh rate with a full HD screen, and connectivity option includes Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6.
Availability of MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset smartphones
The smartphones that feature MediaTek dimensity 1080 chipset will be launched later in quarter four of 2022. There are rumors on the market that the upcoming Redmi Note 12 series will be one of the first smartphones to feature this chipset which is expected to launch in November.
