Mi Mix 4 Goes Official With Snapdragon 888+ CPU & Under-display Front Camera

Xiaomi is currently one of the No.1 smartphone brands all over the world. Xiaomi was the one who started the trend of bezel-less displays in the Smartphone industry with their Mi Mix series of devices. Now almost after 2 years, the successor to the Mi Mix 3, the Mi Mix 4 has been launched in China. It brings interesting features like an under-display selfie camera, the first smartphone with Snapdragon 888+, and much more. Today, let’s have a closer look at what Mi Mix 4 has to offer. 

Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 – Overview 

Design & Display 

Mi Mix 4 is a premium flagship device with an all-glass display at the front with Gorilla Glass victus protection and ceramic back and aluminum frame. The device is a bit heavy at 225gm and is 8mm thin. We get Stereo speakers tuned by Harmon Kardon and IP53 waterproof rating.

It is the front where the real magic begins, On the Mi Mix 4, we get a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is a 10Bit panel with support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Truetone technology. There’s no notch or punch hole interfering with your viewing experience. 

Performance and Battery 

Mi Mix 4 is the first smartphone to be powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC. It is an octa-core CPU with 1×2.99 GHz Kryo 680 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 680 & 4×1.80 GHz Kryo 680 cores and Adreno 660 GPU. Along with this, we get up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Mi Mix 4 is a performance powerhouse and can handle anything you through at it. Not only that it is also equipped with graphite sheet cooling technology. 

Talking about the battery we get a 4500mAh cell on the Mi Mix 4 along with the fastest 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. At its fastest charging settings Mi Mix 4 takes only 15 minutes to charge fully. 

Camera & Software 

Looking at the optics of Mi Mix 4 we get 108MP f/1.9 Main sensor with 7P lens,  Laser AF, and OIS. Along with that, we have an 8MP f/4.1 telephoto lens with 5X optical zoom and the last is a 13MP f/2.2 free-form ultra-wide-angle camera. The free-form lens on the ultrawide angle camera means that distortion is reduced to about 1% compared to the 20% on a standard lens. 

This camera setup can record 8K videos up to 24 fps and 4K up to 60fps and 1080P slow-motion up to 480fps. Mi Mix 4 can also record HDR10+ videos. 

While at the front we get a 20MP selfie shooter under the display which can record 1080P video up to 30fps. For the software, we have MIUI 12.5 on top of Android 11.

Currently we have got the official pricing for China only and looking at this price, we see  Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 has 4 different variants, starting from 8GB RAM + 128GB = ¥4999 (~$770),  8GB RAM + 256GB = ¥5299 (~$817),  12GB RAM + 256GB = ¥5799 (~$894) and 12GB RAM + 512GB = ¥6299 (~$972).
