Nepal Telecom introduces VoLTE on the occasion of World Telecommunication and information society day 2021. Nepal Telecom finally introduces VoLTE today, 17th May 2021. The company started testing VoLTE service when it started expanding its 4G network to more cities and rural areas. The VoLTE uses the 4G network in your device. So, to activate the VoLTE service, you will need a 4G connection.
What is VoLTE?
VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is an advanced technology that delivers high-quality life-like sound over voice calls (HD Voice Quality calls) across the NT 4G Network, rather than the 2G or 3G connections commonly used. With VoLTE, we can experience ultra-clear voice quality with reduced background noise. Conversations will sound more natural, almost as if the person at the other end of the phone call is right next to you. Also, with VoLTE, you can surf at 4G speeds even while being on a phone call.
We tend to think of 4G as mostly being about downloading, streaming, and web browsing, and indeed that’s primarily what it’s been used for so far, but it can also be used to improve calls, which is why some networks have started offering VoLTE.
With the VoLTE service available in Nepal, the users will get to experience a higher degree of call quality with lower background noise distortions. Users can also use the HD video calling function in conjunction with high-speed data transmission. It’s a feature close to what we see on OTT platforms like Viber, Skype, Messenger, etc.
How to enable Nepal Telecom (NTC) VoLTE service?
As we know, the service is available in Nepal as of today. To enable the VoLTE service, users must go through the manual procedure. Below are the steps to activate the NTC VoLTE service.
- First Dial *444#
- Then, the USSD response will list three options.
- To activate VoLTE, select the “Activate VOLTE” option by dialing 2 on your keypad.
- After these steps, the VoLTE service is activated
Likewise, to deactivate the VoLTE service, dial *444# and click on option 3. Then the VoLTE service will be deactivated.
Note: once VoLTE is enabled, you can dial *111# to get 100 minutes FREE VoLTE voice calls valid for 28 days.
While in a call, voLTE calls will not consume any data. It will be charged as per your normal calls.
