Yesterday Qualcomm announced two new chipsets Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 for mid-range smartphones and a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 for enter-level smartphones. The affordable Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset is built on a 6nm architecture. Talking about the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset it’s based on a 6nm architecture featuring 64-bit Kryo CPU clocked at up to 2Ghz with Vulkan 1.1, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 2.0 API support. Whereas the chipset also supports LPDDR4X memory with up to 2133MHz along with eMM 5.1 and UFS 2.2 storage support.
Whereas the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset supports a display specification of Full HD+ (1080*2520) @ 120hz and HD+ (900*1600) @ 120hz. Moreover, the chipset features Qualcomm Spectra Image Singal Processor which supports up to 108MP photos. Whereas the chipset is capable of recording 1080P single video at 60FPS, dual video at 30 FPS, and triple video at 720P on 30 FPS.
Moreover, the chipset does feature a 5G with its Snapdragon X51 5G Modern-RF system whereas the chipset also gets Qualcomm Fastconnect 6200 system that brings WiFi 5 support and Bluetooth 5.2.
Improvements
The predecessor for the Snapdragon 4 gen 1 is the Snapdragon 480 Plus from last year. The new chipset gets several improvements including up 10% increase in GPU performance and up to 15% better CPU performance.
