Realme 10 Full Review

Design

Talking about the first impression of the Realme 10 we get a similar design to other budget devices with a square body and a plastic finish at the back. Whereas the front devices come with a punch-hole at the top left of the display.

Furthermore, the plastic back of the device doesn’t feel cheap instead it feels like glass therefore the device gives a premium feel. Moreover, the device weighs 178 grams so it doesn’t feel heavy while carried around in your pocket or holding the device for a long period of time.

Display

The Realme 10 Super AMOLED 6.4 inches display is one of the most impressive parts of the device as the screen feels vibrant and contrasty. Whereas the 90Hz refresh rate gives the device smoothness. Therefore, making the device feel premium in the user’s hand.

Furthermore, the tall display with an aspect ratio of 20:9 makes browsing the internet and scrolling through social media enjoyable. But when it comes to watching youtube videos on the device the tall aspect ratio leaves lots of blank spaces on devices whereas zooming in crops the video a lot.

Performance

If you were just only amazed by its vibrant and smooth display wait to hear about its performance cause it would impress you as it did to me. So first going through the specification, powering the device is a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset which is based on 6nm architecture. Whereas my unit comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage which is the only variant available in Nepal.

Now moving on to my experience with the device I have been using the Realme 10 for a few weeks. And during the use, I went through doing basic tasks such as browsing the internet, scrolling through social media, and watching youtube videos along with running and switching multiple apps in the background where the device had no problem gliding through apps.

Realme 10 - PUBG
PUBG

Whereas coming to the most mind-blowing aspect of the device for me was its gaming capability. As the Realme 10 was able to run PUBG smoothly at HD graphics with a high frame rate. Whereas the Realme 10 also supports Gyro so I tried playing PUGB and found it’s a gyro with terrible delay. Therefore I wouldn’t suggest this phone for gamers who use gyro.

Realme 10 - Genshin impact
Genshin Impact

Furthermore, one of the most demanding games on mobile to date Genshin Impact was also able to run smoothly at medium graphics settings. In addition, I also tried the highest graphics setting on Genis’s impact and was surprised as the game was easily playable without lag even at intense moments. Whereas I would recommend playing Genshin Impact at a medium setting for a smooth gameplay experience but the graphics will not be visually good.

Software

The Realme 10 out of the box comes with Andriod 12 along with Realme UI 3.0 skin on top whereas the device gets 3 years of major updates. Furthermore, the Realme 10 software feels smooth and responsive whereas it comes with a lot of bloatware that can be uninstalled but it could ruin the experience for new users.

Benchmark

I also benchmarked the Realme 10 through popular software such as Antutu (V9.5.6), CPU throttling test, and Geekbench 6. Where I got a score of 382093 on Antutu Benchmark. Furthermore, on the CPU throttling test the Realme 10 had consistent performance and no major drop in CPU performance in 15 min test which is great. While the Realme 10 scored 714 on Geelbench 6 single core and 1874 on multi-score.

Camera

Talking about the camera of the Realme 10 it comes with a dual camera setup that features 50MP main and 2MP depth sensor. Whereas moving on to my experience with the camera I found it to be very average just like any other budget smartphone in the market.

Realme 10 Review - Camera

Though the photo from the device is very average the AI mode on the Realme 10 enhances the saturation and vibrance which make the photo appear decent and sharable. Furthermore, the Realme 10 comes with various camera modes where one of them being the 50MP mode which takes higher-megapixel photos.

Rear Camera Samples :

Moving on to the rear camera sample I took images of various objects and subjects. While I have included a few samples below where we can find the image with decent quality and details even in digital 2x zoom.

Furthermore, when taking portrait shots in normal mode and portrait mode I found the result inconsistent as the device was not able to blur the subject with portrait mode sometimes in various lighting conditions which you can see below.

Front Camera Sample:

Talking about the front camera I found it again pretty average and sharable which you can see in the below samples whereas, in this front camera, I didn’t find inconsistency in the blur between the normal and portrait modes.

Moreover, the video of the Realme 10 is even poor than the photos as it lacks AI enhancement whereas we also don’t get OIS so the stabilization is also poor. Therefore I won’t recommend the device for a person who takes lots of photos and videos for their social media.

Audio

If you already feel that Realme 10 had cut some corners on camera. Audio will be the second corner-cutting on the device as it only features a single speaker which has a very decent audio quality and is not that loud. Whereas I felt the lack of loudness, especially in an open environment. Furthermore, I felt the speaker’s audio has a bit of eco in it.

Battery and Other features

The Realme 10 comes with a 5000 mAh battery and a 33W fast charger in the box. Whereas per my uses which included light gaming, scrolling through social media, and watching youtube I got around 8 hours of screen time. Furthermore, the fast charger adds up to 15% juice in 5 min while it can charge the device to 100% in almost 1 hour.

In addition, the side-mounted fingerprint reader is accurate and fast whereas the face-unlock works pretty fast too. Furthermore, the Realme 10 comes with a headphone jack just other budget smartphone features which is a plus point as premium devices miss these ports now-day.

Verdict

The Realme 10 is one of the premium feeling devices in terms of build quality, display, and performance with few cost-cutting on camera and audio. So I recommend this device for casual users who are into gaming and focused on the performance aspect while being limited on a budget. As the device is very capable of handling heavy tasks and gaming while only costing NPR.29,999 for the 8+128GB variant.

So at last whom, I wouldn’t recommend this Realme 10 smartphone? It would be users who are looking for a great camera in a smartphone on a budget cause there are plenty of other smartphones in the market such as Redmi Note 11S, Samsung Galaxy M32, Samsung Galaxy A23 4G, and more.
