Realme GT NEO 2 Full Review

Design, Build, and Durability

We like to call the design and look of Realme GT Neo 2 super Sporty specifically due to its bright Neo shade the black stripe that it has at the back. It provides a feel of a Fast Racing Car but, if you are not a fan of its extra design Realme has provided an option of a shuttle black shade with a classic finish.

The device is made out of Glass at the front and the remaining parts out of Plastic. Despite having a Plastic buildup, it feels pretty sturdy but we didn’t have a premium feel. The device is 199.8g and has a very good weight distribution so doesn’t feel very heavy. Realme GT Neo 2 has Dual SimCard Slot but no place for external memory. Also, we were a little upset with the fact that there’s no space to place a 3.5mm Headphone Jack.

Along with having no space for external memory and to connect wired headphones the device is also not certified with any IP Ratings. Summing it up e would like to say that, Realme GT Neo 2 is a well-built device with good weight management, a premium in-hand feel with interesting color options.

Display

Looking at the display fact of the Realme GT Neo 2, the device is provided with 6.62 inches of AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution. 120 HZ refresh rate is provided which makes the UI feel a lot smoother. Its display is HDR10+ Certified. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. We found the display accurate when it comes to colors and we could easily take the phone outside for use because its brightness could reach 1300 nits at the peak which made looking at it under sunlight easy.

In our review period, we really enjoyed consuming content in its AMOLED Panel and its Dual StreoSpeaker completely elevated the experience. Also, we found the under-display fingerprint scanner fast and accurate. The device is wide1L1 certified so, you can enjoy FHD content on the OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime. Also, the punch hole at the top is small and doesn’t come much in between your content. Not only the refresh rate, but Realme GT Neo 2 also supports 600Hz of touch sampling rate, and fast peace games can take full use of it. So this smooth display, along with a powerful SoC makes the experience much more fluent.

Camera

Realme GT Neo 2 is featured with a triple camera setup where the main camera is 64 MP, 8MP Ultrawide, and a 2MP Macro lens. On the front side, the device has a 16 MP front camera for taking high-quality selfies. When it comes to picture quality, Realme GT Neo 2 was able to provide good pictures.

We clicked some pictures under both studio and normal lighting and we were happy with the picture quality which the device provided us with. We even tried a low lighting setup and turned on the night mode feature and it was able to manage the lights and detailing giving us a satisfying result. The picture had vibrant and eye-pleasing colors, shadows and mostly leaned towards cooler tones. The selfies clicked were also had cooler shades and were able to manage colors and picture quality. The 2MP macro camera was just there for its existence and literally performed below average for us since it was not able to capture details.

Talking about videos, the device has the ability to record 4K videos up to 60fps. Since the device lacks an Optical Image Stabilization feature, videos might look a little shaky but it was not a huge issue for us. overall, the camera on Realme GT Neo2 was satisfactory for us.

Software and Performance

Realme GT Neo 2 is featured with a chipset of Qualcomm Snapdragon 870(7nm) along with an Octa-core processor which is a powerful processor. The other device that carries this same chipset available in the Nepalese market is Poco F3. we were definitely happy with the performance of this device. This advanced processor completely changes the experience of gaming, camera along with performing daily tasks on Realme GT Neo 2. PUBG Mobile on this phone can be played up to 60fps max without any frame drop.

Realme has marketed this device’s good heat handling capacity which we found out to be true. In our experience, this phone was able to handle heat very well and after an hour of performing the heavy tasks, it was just a little warm still but didn’t compromise on its performance. We also did the CPU Throttling test and the results were stable. There as two options provided on RAM i.e. 8GB & 12 GB.

Snapdragon 870 Processor

On the software side, Realme GT Neo 2 runs on Android 11 and has Adreno 650 GPU with Realme UI 2.0 custom skin on top. Realme is not known for its long-term software updates but we expect it to get an Android 12 update in the future. When it comes to internal storage, you can pick in accordance with your preference among 128GB & 256GB. We found quite much bloatware on this device since the Indian variant is distributed in Nepal but most of them are uninstallable. Realme GT Neo 2 is a really good performer and at this price, Snapdragon 870 coupled with a 120Hz display and a stable Software experience had made our experience of using the device much more fluent.

Battery Life and Charging

Realme GT Neo 2 is equipped with a 5000mAh Battery and supports 65 watts of Fast Charging and happily, the charger provided in the box is also 65 watts which charge the device from 0-100% in just 36 minutes. Realme GT Neo 2 was able to give us a pretty good battery life. The battery can last for a day if you are a normal user and use your phone for day-to-day social media surfing and other simple daily tasks. The phone can provide a battery life of 4 hrs if continuously performed heavy tasks such as heavy games, video editing, etc.

Pricing

Realme GT Neo was initially launched in a single variant in Nepal which was 8+128GB at the price of Rs.54,199 but, recently Realme has launched another variant i.e. 12+256GB at the price of Rs. 60,999.

Final Verdict

We were very pleased with most of the features of Realme GT Neo 2 and the device was able to deliver us a great experience. Its camera, design, display are worth its price but its performance definitely gets applause. Anyone who is willing for a device for gaming along with smooth performance in day-to-day tasks Realme GT Neo 2 would definitely be a good choice.
