Design & Display
While looking at the design of both the smartphones, we have Gorilla Glass 3 and Plastic back in both the devices. With Redmi 9 we have a quad camera setup in with the fingerprint sensor at the center inside a circular space. Whereas with Realme C3 we get triple camera setup on the top left corner and fingerprint in the middle. At the bottom, we get a single speaker, mic, and Type C port on Redmi whereas micro USB on Realme. Let’s come to the front of the device. With Realme C3 we get an HD+ 6.5-inch display with a teardrop notch. In Redmi 9 we get a better FHD+ display.
Performance and Software
With Redmi 9 we get Mediatek Helio G80 (12 nm) its an Octa-core SoC with 2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 configuration with Mali-G52 MC2 GPU clocked up to 950MHz. While with Realme we are getting Mediatek Helio G70 (12 nm). This is also an Octa-core chipset with 2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.7 GHz Cortex-A55 configuration along with Mali-G52 2EEMC2 GPU clocked up to 820MHz. So basically, Helio G70 is a slightly low clocked version of the Helio G80 processor.
Though there might not be a big difference between both the SoC, we could expect a somewhat similar performance between both the devices. You can expect the day-to-day tasks to be performed by the ease by both of the devices. However, LPDDR4X RAM on Redmi 9 will help to get slightly better performance compared to Realme C3 which has older LPDDR3 RAM.
But when it comes to graphic performance, Relame C3 has a slight advantage over Redmi 9. The lower display resolution on Realme C3 will help Realme C3 to get better performance on Graphic intensive tasks compared to Redmi 9. But don’t expect to get smooth PUBG mobile gameplay on both devices.
While talking about the software, both the devices come with their own Custom Skin on Top of Android 10. You will also get to see ads on both devices.
Optics
Taking cameras into consideration, we get to see some differences between these two devices. Here Redmi 9 has a quad-camera setup with 13MP f/2.2 primary camera +8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide sensor, 5MP f/2.4 macro Camera, and 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. While at the front we have an 8MP f/2.0 selfie shooter.
Whereas on Realme C3 we get Triple Camera setup with 12MP primary shooter with f/1.8 + 2MP depth sensor + 2MP Macro. While at the front we have an inferior 5MP f/2.4 shooter. If anyone from Xiaomi and Realme is reading this we would like to quote “skip that 2MP Macro”. Looking at the specs if you want a better camera experience we would suggest you go with Redmi 9 here.
Battery
We get almost a similar battery size between both the devices. We get to see changes when it comes to charging those mammoth batteries. If you go with Redmi we, get support for 18W fast-charging with USB C but with Realme C3 you are stuck with 10W charging with micro USB. Here Realme C3 has an HD+ display so, we expect it to have a better battery life as it has fewer pixels to push.
Pricing
Redmi 9 and Realme C3 have exact similar pricing for base variant here in Nepal. We get a 3GB+32GB variant of Redmi 9 for Rs.16,999 and 4GB+64GB for Rs.17,999/- whereas 3GB+32GB of Realme is available for Rs.16,999.These are the only variants of both the devices launched in the Nepal market.
