Redmi Note 14 Pro Full Review, Detailed Analysis, Pros and Cons
Design
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro is a stylish phone that catches your eye right away. It has a curved body, a textured leather back panel, and a unique camera module that looks like an oval shape. The leather back on some models, like the Phantom Purple version I reviewed, features different shades of lavender in blocks, which looks really neat. Another model called Ivy Green follows a similar design style, while the Titan Black version has just one color on the back.

The leather feels slightly rough to touch compared to other phones like Motorola’s Edge 50 Fusion. However, with its thickness of about 8.4 mm and weight of 190g, it fits comfortably in your hand and feels well-balanced.Even though the frame is made from plastic, it looks very much like premium metal. The buttons are nice to press because they give good feedback when you touch them. The fingerprint sensor built into the screen works accurately too.
One thing worth noting is that while the edges around the screen aren’t perfectly even all around, they are generally slim and look good overall.
In terms of durability, this phone is excellent for its price point. It has an IP68 rating meaning it’s fully dust-proof and can be submerged underwater up to 2 meters for up to 24 hours—better than its predecessor which only had IP54 protection against splashes. Additionally, Xiaomi uses top-notch Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on this device’s display.
Display
The Redmi Note 14 Pro’s screen is very similar to the older model, but it’s now much brighter, which is great for using it outdoors in Nepal’s sunny days. It’s still a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen, meaning the colors are vibrant and the picture is sharp, perfect for watching videos or looking at photos from your travels in the mountains or cities. It also has a 120Hz refresh rate, making scrolling and animations smooth, which is nice for gaming or browsing social media.

The biggest change is the brightness. It can now get up to 3,000 nits, which is extremely bright. Even in direct sunlight, you can easily see what’s on the screen. In my own testing, it reached almost 1,200 nits, confirming it’s very bright. This is important for people who spend time outdoors, whether it’s trekking, working in the fields, or navigating busy streets.

While the screen is excellent, some other phones, like the Motorola Edge 50 Neo, have a slightly better technology that helps save battery by adjusting the refresh rate automatically. However, the Redmi Note 14 Pro’s screen is better than the OnePlus Nord CE4, which has a lower resolution display. So, for the price, the Redmi Note 14 Pro offers a very good screen for everyday use in Nepal.
Performance
The Redmi Note 14 Pro is faster than the older model because it has a newer MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra chip. This chip makes the phone run smoother and quicker, which is good for using apps and browsing the internet in Nepal’s busy environment. However, the phone comes with a maximum of 8GB of RAM, which is a bit less than the previous model’s 12GB. You can choose between 128GB or 256GB of storage for your photos, videos, and apps.
When it comes to speed tests, the Redmi Note 14 Pro isn’t the fastest phone in its price range. Phones like the OnePlus Nord CE4 and iQOO Z9S Pro perform much better. When the phone is pushed to its limits, its performance can slow down a bit, unlike some other phones that stay consistently fast.

In everyday use, the phone is generally okay, but I did notice some occasional lag, especially when using the camera for a long time or playing demanding games like Call of Duty: Mobile. This means that if you’re a serious gamer or need a super-fast phone for heavy tasks, you might want to consider other options available in the Nepali market.
For regular users in Nepal who primarily use their phones for calls, social media, and everyday apps, the Redmi Note 14 Pro’s performance should be sufficient. But if you’re looking for top-tier speed and performance, especially in demanding situations like crowded app usage, there are faster phones available.
OS and UI
When you pick up the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G in Nepal, you might notice it runs HyperOS based on Android 14, which is different from the older MIUI 14 on Android 13. While it sounds like a big change, in reality, HyperOS feels very similar to MIUI. The look and how you use it are pretty much the same, so it’s not a dramatically new experience.
It works smoothly, apps open quickly, and it’s generally easy to navigate, which is important for busy lives in cities like Kathmandu or Pokhara. There are some minor improvements, like a shortcut to the Settings in the drop-down menu, and you can still personalize the phone with themes, which is good for those who like to customize their devices.

The phone also comes with Google’s AI features, such as Gemini, which is like a personal assistant, and Circle to Search, which is useful for quickly searching for things you see on your screen. More AI features for photo editing will be added later. While these AI tools are helpful, they’re not revolutionary for everyday use in Nepal.
A good thing about this phone is that Xiaomi promises three years of Android updates and four years of security patches. This means the phone will stay updated and secure for a reasonable amount of time, which is important given the rapid pace of technology. However, if long-term support is a priority, brands like Samsung offer even longer support periods, which might be a consideration for those planning on keeping their phone for many years. With the increasing use of smartphones in Nepal, keeping them updated and secure is very important.
Camera
The Redmi Note 14 Pro features a triple camera setup inside its glass module. The main attraction is a 50 MP Sony sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), accompanied by an 8 MP ultrawide camera offering a wide view and a less impressive 2 MP macro shooter. Compared to other phones like the Motorola Edge 50 Neo or Nothing Phone (2a), which have better telephoto lenses or higher-resolution cameras, the Redmi Note 14 Pro’s cameras are somewhat lacking.

In daylight, the primary camera performs well, capturing vibrant colors and good details. It also handles close-up shots nicely with natural depth effects. Portrait photography is another strong point when lighting conditions are ideal; however, edge detection isn’t as precise as some competitors.

Unfortunately, both the ultrawide and macro cameras don’t match up to these standards even in good lighting conditions. Ultrawide photos often appear soft around the edges and suffer from distortion issues like barrel effects. The macro camera doesn’t always deliver usable results due to lack of stabilization. In low-light situations, results from all three cameras become inconsistent. Sometimes you get clear shots with noise issues or overly dark shadows from the primary sensor. The ultrawide and macro cameras struggle significantly more in low light.

For video recording, this phone supports up to 4K at 30 fps using its rear camera and up to 1080p at 60 fps using its front selfie shooter. Videos look decent in daylight but lose detail indoors or during nighttime shoots.

Battery and Charging
The Redmi Note 14 Pro boasts a solid battery life, similar to the previous model, making it dependable for users on the go. In my testing, even with heavy use, including gaming by a family member, the phone consistently lasted through a full day. Less demanding users could likely stretch that to two days, though those who utilize the 120Hz refresh rate and engage in intensive tasks might need to recharge by the end of the first day. While the phone performed well in battery tests, it didn’t quite reach the top tier of battery life champions.
Interestingly, the Note 14 Pro includes a 45W charger in the box, a step down from the 67W charger provided with the Note 13 Pro. This results in slightly slower charging times. However, the charging speed remains reasonably fast. In my tests, the phone reached 33% charge in 15 minutes and 64% in 30 minutes. Therefore, for most users, the difference in charging speed will likely be negligible.

Verdict
The Redmi Note 14 Pro brings many premium features to the mid-range market, following Xiaomi’s tradition of offering great value for money. Its stylish design, combined with an IP68 rating and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, makes it both durable and fashionable in its price range. The main camera and vibrant AMOLED display are also big attractions, especially for casual users who care about looks and multimedia capabilities.
While the Redmi Note 14 Pro has decent battery life and charging speeds that work well for most users, heavy gamers or power users might prefer alternatives that better meet their needs. At a price of NRP 39,999, the Redmi Note 14 Pro is a good choice if you prioritize design and durability. But if you’re looking for top-notch performance or a very clean software experience, it might be worth considering other options in this competitive segment.
