Xiaomi has always been known for launching a different variant of devices across the globe. There are various Xiaomi devices, flying with a different name but the same internals. A similar device is Redmi Note 9 Pro. The device is launched as Redmi Note 9 Pro in the Nepali and Indian market but overseas the device has been launched as Redmi Note 9S.
It’s not only the name that’s different, we see some differences in Software as well. Now, Redmi Note 9 S is launched in Nepal, Nepali consumers have a choice between getting an Indian variant or a Global variant.
Redmi Note 9S – Specs Overview
Redmi Note 9S packs similar specs to Redmi Note 9 Pro. It has all Glass front & Back with Gorilla Glass 5 and at the front we have, 6.67 inches of FHD+ Display with a punch hole at the top center. While under the hood, it has everyone’s favorite Mid-range SoC, Snapdragon 720G with Adreno 618 GPU. We get 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM with UFS 2.1 storage.
Moving towards the back of the device, we get a Quad-Camera setup with a 48MP f/1.8 primary sensor along with an 8MP f/2.2 Ultra-Wide angle lens. The rest of the two are 5MP f/2.4 macro lens and 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. For the front camera, Redmi Note 9S has a 16MP f/2.5 selfie shooter. This is a promising camera setup and we have seen this camera setup doing a good job in the reviews.
Talking about the software, Redmi Note 9S has already been upgraded to Xiaomi’s latest MIUI 12 with Android 10. Though this MIUI is not similar to the one on Redmi Note 9 Pro. The Global variant of Xiaomi devices comes with the Global variant of MIUI. Here, you get Google dialer and Google Message apps instead of the Xiaomi Dialer and Message app.
The Global variant of MIUI is praised by Mi Fans to be more stable and with fewer bugs than the Indian variant. All in all, getting a Global variant might be helpful for better updates.
Also, Redmi Note 9S comes with a 22.5W fast charger inside the box. However, the 5020mAh battery inside Redmi Note 9s only supports 18W fast charging via USB Type-C port.
