Samsung Galaxy A04s vs Poco M5 Comparison

It’s very rare to find a perfect smartphone specifically under the 20000 price range as these smartphones cut some corners to provide the device at this price range. So in this article, we will discuss two of the recently launched smartphone in Nepal the Samsung Galaxy A04s and Poco M5 under the 20000 price range with an in-depth comparison of specifications, features, and prices in Nepal.

Samsung Galaxy A04s vs Poco M5 Comparsion

Built and Design

At first, looking at the build and design of both devices Samsung Galaxy A04s and Poco M5 feature a plastic frame and a plastic back with glass on the front. Furthermore, the dimension also appears to be very similar with 164.7 x 76.7 x 9.1 mm for Samsung galaxy A04s and 164 x 76.1 x 8.9 mm for the Poco M5.

Whereas on the Poco M5 we can find IP52 water and dust protection along with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the front of the screen which is of course better than no IP rating and no screen protection rating on the Samsung Galaxy A04s.

Display

Furthermore looking into the display specification we can find almost a similar screen size of 6.5 inches on the Samsung Galaxy A04s and 6.58 inches on the Poco M5 whereas we can also find a similar 90Hz refresh rate, and 400 nits of peak brightness on both the devices.

Performance

The Poco M5 is a budget gaming phone, therefore, it features a decent chipset which is MediaTek Helio G99 whereas Samsung Galaxy A04s is a balanced phone so it comes its Samsung’s in-house Exynos 850 chipset.

In addition, looking at the benchmark of the chipset the MediaTek Helio G99 scored 358794 on Auntu, 1875/565 on Geekbench, and 1101 on 3Dmark whereas Samsung’s Exynos 850 scored 146522 on Auntu, 1077/183 on Geekbench, and 1101 on 3Dmark, therefore, the Mediatek Helio G99 is 146.39% better than the Samsung Exynos 850 chipset as per the benchmark.

Furthermore, we can find a similar CPU with an octa-core processor whereas the Samsung Galaxy A04s features a 2.0Ghz max clock speed while the Poco M5 has a clock speed of 2.2 GHz.

Software

On the software side, we can find both Samsung Galaxy A04s and Poco M5 running Andriod 12 out of the box with One Ui core 4 skin on top whereas the Poco M5 runs on MIUI 13 skin on top. Furthermore, Xiaomi has promised to deliver 3 major android updates on Poco M5 whereas the same goes for the Samsung Galaxy A04s with 3 major android updates.

Camera

Both of the devices come with the same triple camera setup at the back with a 50MP f/1.8 wide camera, 2 MP f/2.4 macro, and 2MP f/2.4 depth whereas we all know Samsung’s cameras are always far better. Moreover, both devices can shoot 1080P video @30fps with rear cameras and also supports HDR.

While on the front of Samsung Galaxy A04s features a 5MP f/2.2 wide camera that records 720p video@30fps whereas on a Poco M5 we can find a slightly higher megapixel of 8MP camera with f/2.0 wide camera which can record 1080P video@30fps while it also supports HDR.

Battery and other features

Under the hood of both devices, it features a large 5000mAh battery paired with a 15W fast charger on the Samsung Galaxy A04s and an 18W fast charger on the Poco M5. Furthermore going through other features on both devices we can find a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, accelerometer sensor, dual band wifi, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Whereas only the Poco M5 also features a gyro sensor, proximity sensor, compass, and barometer. Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy A04s comes with Bluetooth 5.0 while the Poco M5 comes with Bluetooth 5.3.

Both smartphones are already available in Nepal with a few variants to choose from which are 4/64GB and 6GB/128GB for the Poco M5. Furthermore, the Poco M5 also comes on top in the best smartphone under 20000 and the best gaming phone under the 25,000 list which a price tag of Rs,20,499 for 4/64GB and Rs 24,499 for the 6GB/128GB.

Whereas the Samsung Galaxy A04s also comes in two variants 4/64GB and 4/128GB with the price tag of Rs 19,999 and Rs 21,999 respectively.
