Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G – Premium Mid-range worth the Price ?

spot_imgspot_img

Samsung Galaxy A52 was one of the most popular premium mid-range smartphones from Samsung last year. So, within the time period of 6 months, Samsung presented its successor Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G. Where its design, dimensions, and most of its features are similar to the previous one with an upgrade mainly on two major factors i.e. Display and Performance.

Of course, Samsung’s A series is higher in price compared to its M series but being a successor of Galaxy A52, initially, we were hoping that it might be in a similar price range compared to the previous one but it is launched with an increase of almost ten thousand. It launched having a price tag of NRP 53,999 and NRP 55,999 for 6+128GB and 8+128GB respectively. Samsung is offering enough premium features in Galaxy A52s 5G which makes this device stand out in the crowd while comparing it with the competition.

Design and Durability

Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G features a Gorilla Glass 5 at the front and plastic at the back. The back gives a sleek matt finish leaving no fingerprint with the exact same design as Galaxy A52. Since the device is built with plastic at the back somehow, it doesn’t provide a very premium feel but still is pretty sturdy. Color options provided i.e.Awesome mint, Awesome white, Awesome Violet, and Awesome Black on Galaxy A52s 5G are also very impressive since you can choose the shade which defines you the most. Also, it won’t feel very heavy while carrying around since it’s only 183grams in weight.

Galaxy A52s 5G is provided with IP67 water and dust resistance which explains that this device can easily handle dust and splashes of water and can survive up to 30 mins under 1 meter underwater.

Display

Samsung has upgraded the Refresh rate on Galaxy A52s 5G compared to the Samsung Galaxy A52. The Galaxy A52 featured a 90 Hz panel whereas this one comes with a 120 Hz refresh rate which provides a super silky smooth feel to it. The 6.5 inches super AMOLED display panel with FHD+ resolution totally enhances the screen experience and could even be used easily under bright sunlight since it comes with 800 nits of brightness. During my review period, I really enjoyed consuming content on this AMOLED panel, also the stereo speaker setup further enhances the experience.

Camera

There’s nothing new to talk about the camera in Galaxy A52s 5G. It comes with the exact same camera setup as that of the Samsung Galaxy A52. The phone has a generous quad-camera setup at the back. The main camera is 64MP, the ultrawide shooter is 12MP, the macro is 5MP and depth is 5MP for adding depth-of-field effects to portrait mode. The selfie camera comes with 32 MP for taking high-definition selfies. The pictures captured from Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G are pretty impressive and of high quality. The colors are bright and saturated and have that presence of vibrancy. The selfies captured from its 32 MP front camera were sharp too.

Despite having the same camera setup as A52, the new upgraded processor brings an advanced camera Image Signal Processor(ISP)  which does not bring a major change in picture quality but definitely processes the HDR photos much quicker and won’t have any sort of delay while clicking photos.

Also, the OIS feature provided on its main camera was able to reduce some portions of shakiness and made the video stable. Talking more about the video, the device can capture 4K videos up to 30fps from both front and rear camera setup. As the main sensor is equipped with OIS, videos were quite stable and colors were natural too.

Performance

We definitely have to say that the performance of the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G is quite impressive. The last device from the Galaxy A series was provided with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset where this time Samsung has upgraded it to Snapdragon 778 which is almost twice as powerful compared to the last one. This is the same SOC that we saw on the Mi 11 Lite 5G NE. This improved and advanced processor completely changes the experience from gaming, the camera, and performing daily tasks in Galaxy A52s 5G. We tried PUBG Mobile and the device was easily able to push to 60fps. Also, there were no CPU throttling issues while comparing its performance with the similarly specced Mi 11 Lite 5G NE.

Also, the RAM management was really really good. Talking about the RAW benchmarks we tried Geekbench5 resulting in a single-core score of 760 and a multi-core score reached 2637, which is somewhere between Snapdragon 860 – 870. While in ANTUTU we get 500636 of combine score.

On the software side of things, Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G has One UI 3.1 with Android version 11 which provides device optimizations exclusive to Galaxy devices. The One UI offers new features like camera enhancements, video call effects, Blue light filters, notifications of photos and videos before sharing, along with enabled support for Wifi-6. Also, one of the perks of choosing Samsung devices compared to other devices is that Samsung provides 3 major android updates and up to 4 years of android security updates making your device well optimized for a much longer period of time.

The major impressive factor for us when it comes to Galaxy A52s 5G was its Thermal. We found that this device was able to handle the heat at the best compared to other phones. We did a proper CPU Throttling Test and its result was very fascinating. The result came out very stable which is not the result we found in other phones. In summary, we can say that Galaxy A52s 5G was the best phone to handle the heat in our test to this date.

Battery Life and Charging

Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G comes with a 4,500 mAh battery capacity which means you can expect the battery to last for a generous period of time. This is a pretty good size of battery being a mid-range phone. But, if you wish to extend the battery life even more you can easily switch from 60 Hz to 120 Hz refresh rate. For a mild user, the battery would last for a day but if you start clicking pictures and recording videos that may not be the case. This phone can support Fast charging up to 25 Watt but, Samsung has provided a 15-watt fast charger in the box which took us almost 1 hour and 40 mins for the device to get fully charged.

Our Overview

We pretty much enjoyed our use with the new Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G. Initially, we interpreted that having a difference of almost ten thousand from A52 was making the phone tat bit expensive but, after having proper use of Galaxy A52s 5G and analyzing its advanced processor whose performance was in between Snapdragon 860 and 870 despite being Snapdragon 778 made that feeling go away. But, we believe that Samsung could have done a better job when it comes to its buildup quality because the plastic back was not able to make and feel much premium. The camera was also impressive and provided good-quality photos. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G would be a good choice for the average user who cares about photography, gaming, and streaming.
