Inside The Box
Samsung Galaxy A54 comes with a USB Type-C cable, SIM ejector tool, some paper documents, and the phone A54 itself. Sadly Samsung doesn’t provide a charging brick inside the box.
Look and Feel
Samsung Galaxy A54 has a boxy slab design and gives a confident grip while holding in hand. It has gorilla glass 5 front and back, giving it a soothing feeling but also making it a fingerprint magnet. For someone like me who sweets more than normal, it is better to carry a microfiber cloth or put on a cover.
The side frames are made from plastic which also has a very smooth feeling but they do not attract fingerprints. While looking, the phone side frame has a mat finish with a kind of curve design.
The back has 3 camera bumps making Galaxy A54 irritating while using when it is sitting flat on the table surface. But when I put it topside down that 3 cameras with a flashlight and simplistic Samsung branding on the bottom, the phone is eye catchy. Especially the variant I was tasting was violet color and it stood out in a crowd everywhere I went.
Display
Samsung Galaxy A54 has a really sharp and vibrant screen which is really great for media consumption. While watching horror movies or nature videos on YouTube, the color saturation is really good and the depth of color and darkness is noticeably mesmerizing.
Screen to body ratio may not seem that impressive and the bezel is noticeably big at the beginning but it doesn’t create that much of an issue because the screen is really good and most of the time I did not even notice the bezel.
Performance
Samsung Galaxy A54 run smoothly like melted butter when it comes to day-to-day task such as working with google docs & Microsoft Office application which is really important for people working in an office because these applications tend to be heavy and resource-consuming.
Even tho Galaxy A54 runs heavy applications smoothly, it does have issues with running multiple applications in the background. If you constantly switch applications between different apps like MS Word to Google Drive or Chrome, Facebook to Youtube, Instagram to Reddit, or something like that, Galaxy A54 will not keep apps loading in your background.
Let’s say you were scrolling Facebook and you found a link to an interesting YouTube video and you clicked on the like, went to YouTube and watched the video for 20 mins or so, and come back to Facebook, you will not be able to continue Facebook from where you left.
I also did some throttle and bench testing on this phone and while testing Galaxy A54 got a score of 499982 on Antutu. Geekbench gave a score of 1001 on Single-Core and 2694 on Multi-core & while throttle testing this phone from the CPU Throttle app for 30 min it gave a score of 266,608 GIPS on average and 256,926 GIPS on the highest performance.
Gaming on A54 did not meet my expectation as I was not getting smooth 90 or even 60 frames per second. It doesn’t mean that games are totally unplayable, we can play games on this phone and it handles them pretty well in low graphics and FPS settings, but, because of Galaxy A54 not having options for high graphics and FPS settings, it is not as much fun as expected considering the price.
Software
Galaxy A54 comes with Android 13 OS which is the latest and hottest OS available in 2023. With Android 13, this phone also has One UI 5.1 skin which is one of the best mobile phone skins available on the market. One UI is made by Samsung and it has a very simple UI that is easy to get used to but the best thing about One UI is, it also focuses on UX (User Experience) making it better than almost all other mobile software skins available on the market.
With A54, Samsung has announced it to give software updates for the next 4 years and Security updates for 5 years. That makes this phone almost as good as new for 5 years and perfectly usable for 8 to 10 years in total.
Camera
Photos taken in A54 are really good, sharp and come in good detail but a little bit of high contrast and saturation can be seen in the photo making them eye-pleasing and social media-ready. Night mode photos taken in Galaxy A54 are also really sharp and clean without any noise.
The 50-megapixel camera is slightly better than the normal camera and photos also have more details in them if we zoom in. In portrait mode, A54 sometimes finds it hard to find the edges and messes up the blur even in bright daylight but overall, it works really well.
Wideangle camera makes the surface of the object smooth causing in loss of details in the photos. The issue of stretching the objects on the edge can also be seen on the Galaxy A54 wide-angle camera. Wide-angle images can look good and smooth at first glance but if we zoom in even a little bit, we can notice how noisy and rough the details are in the picture. The macro camera is okay, it takes photos of small objects but just like any other phone, in this phone too the macro camera feels like a gimmick.
The videography experience on Galaxy A54 is just okay and doesn’t have anything to surprise us. The OIS in this phone does prevent the shaking of the video but it does make it smooth and it doesn’t feel rough shake while watching the video. Super Stady mode also decreases the quality of the video and makes it noisy. With super steady mode ‘on’, Galaxy A54 only takes videos in Full HD at 30 FPS, but with super steady ‘off’, UHD 4K at 30 FPS.
The front Camera on this phone is also good and photos that are taken in good daylight come naturally and with good details. Videos are also good and bring out more details but while testing I found that it was hard to focus on objects even when I was clicking on the object on the screen to focus.
Battery
A 5,000 mAh battery on Galaxy A54 will last for a day easily in casual use and you can just charge the phone at the end of the day or before going to sleep, but if you edit videos, spend more time on social media, play consent games and use the phone constantly the whole day, you might have to charge it before the day ends which is still really impressive for a phone to last this long even with heavy uses.
For charging Galaxy A54 supports 25W of fast charging but the charger is not shipped with the box and the box contains only the type-C to type-C charging/data cable. So, after buying the 25W charger externally I was able to charge this phone from zero to 50% in just under 27min and from zero to 100% in around 1 hour. One day I charged this phone for 15 minutes at 10 AM from dead 0%, which got me about 23% to 26% battery. Surprisingly, it lasted up to around 05:00 PM easily in a normal usage scenario (Not playing games).
Extra Features
- Panel: One of the main extra features that we can get on this phone is a side panel known as Panels. It is really helpful to quickly open the apps I mostly use and saves time. It can also be set to show navigation, take different screenshots and record videos, control music, and more. I mostly used it for music and navigation purposes.
- Security: For locking the device, we get the option of the in-display fingerprint sensor which is really secure. It is not the fastest in the market but it gets the job done. With in-display fingerprint, we can also get face scanners, pin, pattern, and password protection options.
- Speakers: Galaxy A54 has stereo speakers with the option of Dolby Atmos that can be easily turned on or off from the command center. Stereo speakers can give good surround effects and can also be helpful to track bullets and footsteps of the enemy while playing FPS games.
- IP67: Galaxy A54 has an IP67 rating making it waterproof. It doesn’t mean it is totally waterproof deep under the ocean or even for a longer period of time. Still, it means it is protected against short periods of immersion in water while under pressure between 15cm and 1m.

If you are looking for a reliable & long-lasting smartphone under 60,000 that can very well handle day-to-date tasks, has a really good and vibrant screen, great battery life and good cameras then Samsung Galaxy A54 can be a good option for you.
