Design, Build Quality, and Durability
While having a first glance at Samsung Galaxy M52 5G, it looks very similar in design to the very infamous Galaxy A52s 5G. In our personal opinion, Galaxy A52s 5G has the better color range to choose from basic shades to pastel and quirky ones where M52 has only the basic ones. But, of course, there are a couple of factors that Samsung has made changes in the Galaxy M52. despite both of these phones being made up of plastic, Galaxy M52 5G is only 173 grams which makes it super lightweight and easy to carry around. Also, it has a very slim and slender look to it having a thickness of just 7.4mm. The very lightweight and super slim characteristics give it a very appealing and pleasuring feel in hand.Â
But, Samsung has provided no information about the gorilla glass that has been used. Also, no IP rating has been provided to this device making them unsafe to use while raining or out in water since it cannot handle splashes of water nor dust particles.
Display
Similar to Galaxy A52s 5G, this time too Samsung has provided a super AMOLED Plus Display having a refresh rate of 120Hz which gives it a very silky smooth feel. But, its display is slighter bigger this time being 6.7 inches being Full HD+ along with Infinity O Design. This display also supports HDR videos on Youtube. Due to these factors, the display is very enjoyable and totally perfect for content consumption. With a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and 393 PPI density, the display is quite sharp and color accurate.
At this price point, Samsung Galaxy M52 packs one of the best displays in the industry. Though we don’t get a stereo speaker setup with this one but content consumption is really going to be a joy in this one.Â
Camera
Galaxy M52 5G is able to provide pretty good quality pictures with adequate color vibrancy and saturation. This phone has a triple camera setup at the back where the Main Camera is a 64 MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture, Ultra-Wide is 12 MP f/2.2 lens and the macro camera is 5 MP, f/2.4 shooter. The 32 MP f/2.2 front camera has been given to capture good selfies. We enjoyed and loved to click pictures from the Samsung M52 5G especially in the daylight. But, Galaxy A52s 5G wins over when it comes to taking photos in the low light or dark mode since it’s the main camera that comes with an OIS feature. The lack of this feature not only pushes the M52 5G back in low light photos but also when it comes to recording videos since it helps to reduce the shakiness making video stable.Â
But, what really acts as a cherry on top is the processing of the advanced camera Image Signal Processor(ISP) due to the strong processor that processes the HDR photos much quicker and no delays while clicking pictures. The images produced by the Galaxy M52 have a signature Samsung look to them with punchy colors and contrast. Talking about the video, lack of OIS might be a deal-breaker for some but the device still can capture really good 4K footage at 30fps from its rear camera while the front one maxes out at 1080P at 30fps.
Performance
The highlight of Samsung Galaxy M52 5G is that it is provided with the same chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G which is found in Galaxy A52s 5G too. Many people including us were really impressed with the performance of Galaxy A52s 5G and we had similar expectations from this one too. What we can say is that Galaxy M52 5G was able too to meet our expectations. The advanced processor completely changes the experience for gaming, along with the camera uses and performing daily tasks in Galaxy M52 5G. We tried PUBG Mobile and the device was easily able to push to 60fps. Also, we found no issue during our CPU throttling test.Â
Galaxy M52 5G has One UI 3.1 with Android version 11 which provides device optimizations exclusive to Galaxy devices. The One UI litters new features like camera enhancements, video call effects, Blue light filters, notifications of photos and videos before sharing, along with enabling support for Wifi-6. Also, one of the perks of choosing Samsung devices compared to other devices is that Samsung provides 3 major android updates and up to 4 years of android security updates making your device well optimized for a much longer period of time.
Battery
The actual reason behind Samsung Galaxy M52 5G being so slim, slender, and super light is its less battery capacity. Usually, the M series by Samsung is known for its super high battery capacity but Galaxy M52 5G despite being the most expensive among all, had the lowest battery capacity i.e. 5000mAh. But it is still bigger than the 4500mAh battery provided in Galaxy A52s 5G. For an average user, the battery will easily last for a day on mild usages like just social media and stuff but, if you are a gamer or if you continuously keep on clicking pictures the battery might not last that long. Also, this phone supports up to 25 watts but Samsung only provides a 15-watt charger which lengthens the charging time. For us, it took around 1 hr and 40 mins to full charge.
VerdictÂ
Finally, our final view on Samsung Galaxy M52 5G is we were satisfied with its overall performance. Its in-hand feel is even better than Samsung A52s 5G because of its light and slim body but the color options are better in Galaxy A52s 5G. But to keep the price low, features like OIS & IP rating are mission on Galaxy M52 5G. We really loved the performance of its processor too. Its performance is what makes this phone worth every penny. Also, we were pretty impressed with its battery life too and would recommend M52 5G than A52s 5G if their main focus is battery life. The camera was also impressive and provided good-quality photos. Overall, Galaxy M52 5G is a well-balanced smartphone that you should definitely check out if you are on the hunt for a good smartphone under Rs.50000 in Nepal.
