Samsung unveiled its first-ever OLED gaming computer, yesterday at IFA 2022. Samsung recently announced the Odyssey Neo G8, with a mini LED and a 4K resolution. The next release was followed by the Odyssey Ark “ the world’s first 55-inch 1000R curved gaming screen”. These constant releases prove that Samsung has been no less on updating gaming technologies. So what makes the new Odyseey OLED G8 gaming monitor? Let’s dive into its features.
Design and display:
The monitor designed for gaming computers boasts a 34-inch “ultra-slim” curved design with an OLED panel. The OLED G8 will also feature a 1800R curvature and boasts a refresh rate of 175Hz. The 34-inch OLED G8 will also feature a 3440×1440 resolution and according to Samsung, it covers 99.3% of the DCI colour gamut. The ultra slim monitor has featured a 3.9 mm sleek aluminium frame and a Height-Adjustable Stand (HAS) for its design.
Performance:
The Odyssey OLED G8 is based on Quantum Dot Technology, which boasts its highlighting feature low response time of 0.1ms.not only that, but the quantum dot technology features the monitor to deliver brilliant brightness as well as a 175Hz refresh rate. It also supports AMD FreeSync Premium, which helps reduce stuttering or tearing while gaming by dynamically adjusting the monitor’s refresh rate to keep up with what your GPU is putting out.
Software:
Now, a gaming monitor with no software experience? Impossible! The monitor is outfitted with Samsung Gaming Hub1, which allows you to play and experience games from Xbox, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Google Stadia, Utomik, and Amazon Luna (the U.S. only). In addition to gaming, you can use the monitor to stream movies and shows via Samsung’s Smart Hub. So gamers are you excited?
Extra features:
The monitor also comes with a 5W stereo speaker built into the monitor. There are also features like AMD FreeSync Premium along with connectivity options like Micro HDMI 2.1 ports, Mini DisplayPorts, USB-C, and there are even built-in speakers. Odyssey OLED G8’s CoreSync and Core Lighting+ let users customize the lighting of the rear “Core” to match their in-game environment.
Price and availability:
Samsung hasn’t released any price details about its pricing. However, Samsung states that the 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 will be available “globally from Q4 2022,” although will differ by region.
