Qualcomm has recently introduced the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 (SM4450), building upon the foundation of its predecessor, the 4 Gen 1, which debuted in September of the previous year. This latest iteration showcases notable advancements, including the integration of the Snapdragon X61 modem.

This makes it an inaugural chip in the series to embrace the enhanced 3GPP Release 16 iteration of 5G technology. Notably, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 sets a new milestone as the first-ever 4nm chip to be incorporated into the Snapdragon 4-series lineup.

The new Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 features dual-ISP camera hardware that introduces a NEW feature called Multi-Camera Temporal Filtering (MCTF). This technology enhances video noise reduction for improved video quality. While video capture remains limited to 1080p at 60fps (with 720p at 120fps for slow motion), the chip now supports Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) for a smoother footage.

The camera capabilities include compatibility with cameras up to 108MP or 32MP for Zero Shutter Lag (or 16+16MP for dual cameras). Additionally, autofocus performance has been enhanced for quicker and more precise focusing.

The Gen 2 chip keeps the Quick Charge 4+ technology, enabling quick charging, just like its predecessor. Although specifics are not given, Qualcomm asserts that it can charge a battery to 50% in under 15 minutes. Additionally, the chip provides USB-C connectivity at USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds, allowing for up to 5Gbps of data transmission rates.
