Overview
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 vs Dimensity 9000- CPU
Talking about the CPU, there are many similarities between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the MediaTek Dimensity 9000. Both the processors have similar architecture and cores. Furthermore, both the processors are built on the 4nm process technology where Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 features Samsung’s fabrication process while Dimensity 9000 features the one from TSMC.Â
As aforementioned in the specifications, both the processors have 8 cores while Dimensity 9000 has a relatively powerful core frequency for the Cortex A710 and Cortex A510 while the number of cores is the same.Â
Qualcomm claims that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is 20% faster and 30% more power-efficient than its predecessor whereas MediaTek has not made any sort of claims. However, we’ll know once the official benchmark numbers are released. Nonetheless, both the processors, undoubtedly, will deliver better performance, power efficiency, and security than the previous processors.Â
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 vs Dimensity 9000- GPU
As for the GPU, Qualcomm is going with Adreno GPU for Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which Qualcomm claims to have 30% faster performance using 25% less power compared to its predecessor. We can expect exciting game features such as Frame Motion Engine, Volumetric lighting, and Variable Rate Shading Pro. The GPU is expected to be the most advanced GPU by Qualcomm.
As for the Dimensity 9000, MediaTek will be going with its ARM Mali-G710 GPU which, reportedly, is 20% better in performance compared to its predecessor. The Dimensity 9000 will have a powerful rival to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. We’ll have to wait for further details for the detailed review.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 vs Dimensity 9000- ISP
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has the 18-bit HDR ISP that is capable of shooting 8k videos in HDR with electronic image stabilization. Furthermore, it can capture up to 240 photos with a resolution of 12MP in just one second. Qualcomm has set a dedicated engine for 4k Bokeh video recording as well. However, it can process up to 3.2 gigapixels per second which is comparatively less than the 8 gigapixels per second of Dimensity 9000.
On the other hand, Dimensity 9000 has an 18-bit HDR ISP that is capable of shooting up to 8k resolution and gives support up to 320MP. Furthermore, the Dimensity 9000’s ISP can record in 4K HDR in all three cameras simultaneously.
Nonetheless, both the processors will feature the best ISP which can be fully utilized for the customer’s benefit.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 vs Dimensity 9000- Memory
Talking about the memory, Dimensity 9000 is the first chipset to feature LPDDR5X memory support while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 only has the LPDDR5 memory like other processors. So, we can say that Dimensity 9000 wins clearly on memory.
Verdict
Both the processors seem promising with the upgrades and additions in different features. The processors are similar in many aspects. However, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 seems to offset the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with its higher core frequencies, new GPU, and powerful ISP. On the other hand, Snapdragon has overtaken Mediatek when it comes to having a double-digit download speed (10Gbps).Â
