Finally, the long wait for Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is over!! As Qualcomm has finally unveiled this flagship processor yesterday on the market. So, get ready to experience the latest enhanced performance chip over its predecessor, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Therefore, in this article, we will discuss all the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 specifications and devices that are going to use this chip in full detail.
Specifications of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Processor
CPU & GPU:
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s Kryo CPU has one prime core-based ARM cortex X3 which has a clock speed of 3.2GHz whereas the four performance cores have a 2.8GHz of clock speed and the other three efficiency core have 2.0GHz. On the other hand, the company declares its CPU is 35 percent faster than its predecessor and 40 percent more power efficient.
On the GPU side, it gets Adreno GPU which offers 25 percent higher performance and 45 percent more power efficiency. Whereas, it brings support for hardware-accelerated ray tracing to the snapdragon platform. Furthermore, it supports faster memory technologies that include LP-DDR5X RAM at up to 4,200MHz and new UFS 4.0 storage.
This newly announced chip is built in a 4nm process, similar to its predecessor. On the display side, this processor supports QHD+ resolution at up to 144HZ or 4K resolution at 60hz. Furthermore, it supports external displays up to 4K resolution at 60Hz with a 10-bit Rec, 2020 color gamut, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision.
Cameras:
Moving on, it has a triple 18-bit ISP that features three 36MP cameras simultaneously or up to 200MP for a single-camera configuration. Moreover, it has improved support for the latest Sony and Samsung sensors.
Artificial Intelligence:
With the help of its hexagon processor, it has made improvements of up to 4.35x faster Artificial Intelligence performance which can easily perform complex tasks. Another important thing to note here is, it is the world’s first chip to support Wi-Fi 7 technology.
Connectivity:
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G. Whereas, its peak downlink speed is 10Gbps and its peak uplink is 3.5Gbps (similar to its predecessor). Furthermore, it supports Dual-SIM, Dual-Active (DSDA) operation in which two 5G SIMs (or 5G+4G) are active at the same time.
