OnePlus first partnered with Hasselblad, a leading manufacturer of cameras, photographic equipment, and image scanners. The March 23, 2021, Hasselblad partnership looked to improve OnePlus camera development over the next three years. Now OnePlus has announced a new partnership with Sony Lytia to bring a new sensor on the OnePlus 12. Therefore in this article, we will get into the details of Sony LYTIA and OnePlus partnership.
Sony LYTIA and OnePlus Partnership Highlights
OnePlus has officially announced the collaboration with Sony Lytia to bring a new dual-layer stacked sensor for the OnePlus 12. The new stacked sensor is expected to bring improvement to low-light photography capabilities. Moreover, OnePlus and Sony also mention that the OnePlus 12 will be the first smartphone in the world to come equipped with Sony’s brand-new LYTIA mobile image sensor.
Furthermore, the Sony Lytia partnership can be also seen benefiting Oppo and its subsidiary brands Vivo. Oppo announced its strategic partnership back in September while Vivo confirmed its Vivo X100 series to get a custom LYT800 sensor. Likewise as mentioned above OnePlus 12 will get a first higher-end sensor from Lytia.
LYTIA
LYTIA is a new product brand for image sensors on mobile devices by Sony Semiconductor Solution Corporation (SSS). Whereas the SSS has been providing image sensors for the mobile device since 2003. The LYTIA aims to contribute to smartphone photography and videography culture.
OnePlus 12
Moreover, the OnePlus 12 is expected to feature a LYTIA new image sensor with an IMX966 1/1.4 inches 50MP primary camera. Whereas sources claim the new image sensor to be similar to Sony’s Xperia 1 V. Similarly other rumors hint OnePlus 12 packs a 64MP telephoto (OnmiVision OV64B) with 3x optical zoom and 48MP ultrawide lens.
Additionally, sources confirm that the OnePlus 12 will bring BOE BOE-developed LTPO OLED display. The OnePlus 12 is expected to be announced in China soon in a few months while the global release is expected in early 2024.
Talking about the previous OnePlus partnership with Hasselblad the devices seem to not get much improvement whereas the OnePlus fans were also not hyped a lot on later devices from Oneplus and its partnership. Now the 3-year partnership of OnePlus Hasselblade has already been completed but there is no information regarding the partnership with Hasselblade. But render images of OnePlus reveal the Hasselblade branding on the OnePlus 12.
