Sony Introduces $200 PlayStation Portal Remote Play Device

Sony is a global technology company renowned for its innovative electronics, entertainment, and gaming products. Following the March reveal of their handheld device, codenamed Project Q, Sony has now officially unveiled the remote play handheld called the PlayStation Portal.

After a long wait and lots of leaks and rumors, Sony is finally on track to launch these remote handheld PlayStation portal.The device utilizes the PS Remote Play feature, enabling gameplay for your PS5 titles from any location with a Wi-Fi connection. For proper functionality, the PS Portal necessitates a minimum internet speed of 5Mbps, while a more preferable 15Mbps is recommended by Sony to ensure an ideal gaming encounter.

Furthermore, It’s important to note that only games compatible with the PS5 console that you have installed can be played on this device. Similarly, Sony has clarified that it won’t facilitate PlayStation Plus Premium cloud streaming. Not only that local execution of other games or media is similarly not possible on this device.

The PS Portal features an 8-inch LCD featuring a resolution of 1080P and a refresh rate of 60Hz. It also adopts the identical controller arrangement as the PS5 DualSense. This handheld gadget is equipped with a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and speakers located on the top. However, Details regarding the remaining specifications of the device are still a mystery at the moment.

Interestingly, the absence of Bluetooth connectivity in the PS Portal is noteworthy, with exclusive support limited to Wi-Fi and PlayStation Link. The latter is a novel wireless connection standard developed by Sony, facilitating seamless audio transmission with minimal delay and enabling smooth transitions between devices that are compatible.

PlayStation Portal release date and Pricing:

Talking about its release date and pricing, PlayStation Portal will be released later this year for $200/€220/£200, with Sony promising more details and official launch dates soon. Based on international conversion rates the device will likely cost around NPR 26,394. However, it is important to keep in mind that these prices are only the converted price and not the official price of these devices.
