Tecno Phantom X, A Premium Smartphone with curved display and 50MP camera setup launching soon in Nepal

Tecno, a brand that often introduced budget smartphones in the market, is now moving on to bring premium and flagship smartphones in the market. Tecno has announced the creation of a sub-brand named Phantom that will focus only on premium devices. Likewise, the company had announced the first premium smartphone under the Phantom sub-brand- Phantom X. The device was launched back in June 2021. And, finally, after few months of wait, the first Tecno premium smartphone is going to enter the Nepalese smartphone market.

Design and Display

Tecno has worked a lot for the device to have premium looks and premium feels. At the rear panel, the Phantom X flaunts a triple camera setup arranged in a vertical rectangular bump at the center of the glassy rear panel. With the glassy rear panel,  you can get the premium looks and feels as you hold the device. The rear panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Likewise, at the front, the device has a dual-camera housed inside a cutout at the top left corner.

As for the display, the device features a 6.7 inches SuperAMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. The front glass is protected by the Gorilla Glass 5 like the rear panel. Phantom X has curved edges which give it a more premium look. The device also features an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Performance and Battery

Under the hood, Phantom X is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G95 chipset. The premium device boots on HiOS 7.6 based on Android 11. The smartphone is available in only one configuration of 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Similarly, the graphics of the device is handled by Arm’s Mali-G76 MC4 GPU. This is the same SoC used in devices like, Redmi Note 10s and last years Realme 7.

Additionally, Tecno has added a vapor chamber cooling system alongside the chipset that takes care of the temperature. So, you can stream, binge-watch, or play games without worrying about the device’s temperature.

As for the battery, Phantom X packs a 4700 mAh battery along with fast charging support of 33W. Tecno, as per their advertisement, claims that with the fast charging support, the device can be charged up to 70% in just 30, minutes.

Camera

Moving on to the camera, the Phantom X features a triple camera setup arranged in a rectangular cutout at the glassy rear panel along with a laser focus and rear flashlight. The camera setup comprises a 50MP primary sensor along with a 13MP telephoto lens and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor.

At the front, the device houses the dual selfie camera inside a pill-shaped cutout at the top left corner. The selfie camera features a 48MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultrawide lens with a 105o field of view. The selfie camera also features a dual-LED flash at the top of the screen as well.

We can expect the Tecno Phantom X to arrive in the Nepalese market in the month of October at an expected price of Rs. 57,999 for 8GB/ 256GB variant.
