If you are an avid internet user in Nepal, you will be familiar with the term Fair Usage Policy(FUP). A clause used by all the Internet Service Providers(ISPs) to throttle down Internet Speeds of an unlimited user when there is excessive bandwidth uses i.e. excessive download/upload, by the particular user. Additionally, with the lockdown in place and everyone browsing the internet all day, it is likely that your Internet speeds have already been throttled by your ISPs.
Now, if you are a Vianet user who had been worried about their speed being throttled, there is a very big good news for you. Taking the situation of lockdown into account Vainet has made a decision to increase the Fair Usage Quota by up to 60% for the home users. Let’s take a look at the details below.

Firstly, you should know that Vianet implements FUP at three levels. When you cross level 1 limit your internet speed is throttled to 60%, at Level 2 the internet speed is throttled to 30%, and at level 3 the internet speed is throttled to 10%. The data usage is calculated on the basis of both your total download and upload data and resets at the start of every English month i.e. January, February, etc. Now, let’s see how much FUP quota has been added for your package.
