Vivo X Fold Overview
Design & Display
When it comes to a foldable device, design is its main aspect. Here on the Vivo X Fold, we get a Notebook foldable design. It is similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. Vivo X Fold features an aircraft-grade floating wing hinge. This makes the device close flat or even stand at 60 and 90-degree angles. Vivo here claims to use SCHOTT UTG (ultra-thin glass, Schott manufactures Samsung’s UTG).
Getting a deeper dive into those displays, upfront the cover display is a 6.53-inch AMOLED display. We got a punch hole at the top for the selfie shooter. This display supports a 120Hz of refresh rate. Unfolding the device we are treated with a wide, 8.03-inch LTPO 2 AMOLED display. The display can slow down up to 1Hz because of its LTPO tech. Both the display on the Vivo X Fold supports HDR10+ and both are equipped with an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
Optics
When you look into the Vivo X Fold, you can see we have cameras all around the device. At the rear, we get a flagship-grade quad-camera setup with a 50MP f/1.8, a primary camera that is equipped with Dual Pixel PDAF. The primary camera is also equipped with Dual Pixel PDAF and OIS. The next one is an 8 MP, f/3.4 Periscopice telephoto lens with 5X Optical Zoom. We get Optical image stabilization here too. Completing the camera setup is a 12MP f/2.0 Telephoto lens and a 48MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera.
Talking about the front cameras, we have a 16MP f/2.5 selfie shooter on the outer cover display. We also have a selfie shooter inside when the device is unfolded, but its details are yet to be known. Vivo X Fold can record videos up to 8K at 30fps or even 4K at 60fps from its rear camera setup. Whereas the front one maxes out at 1080P, 30fps.
The cameras are tuned by Zeiss optics so we get, Zeiss modes which include Texture Portrait, Motion Capture 3.0, Zeiss Super Night Scene, Zeiss Nature Color, and more.
