Samsung and Xiaomi are two of the market leaders when it comes to smartphones in Nepal. Both the brand are very popular among consumers in both budget and mid-range segments. During this time of the year, Samsung and Xiaomi both have launched their flagship for the year 2022 in Nepal. Samsung is ready with its S22 series and Xiaomi is back with its Xiaomi 12 Pro. Today, this article would be  Xiaomi 12 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S22, as both the devices are priced at a similar price bracket. Therefore we will be having a specs comparison between Xiaomi 12 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22.

Xiaomi 12 Pro vs OnePlus 10 Pro Overview 

Design and Display 

In the design department, Xiaomi 12 Pro simply takes the crown as the device looks and feels much more premium than the Samsung Galaxy S22. Also, the curved display and curved back panel make the device look premium too. On the Samsung side, we get flat edges this time, which are good too but compared with Xiaomi 12 Pro, S22 loses in the design department. 

Talking about the display, Xiaomi wins here too. On the Xiaomi 12 Pro, we get 6.73 inches of 3D curved LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This is a QHD+ panel with a resolution of 1400 x 3200 pixels and 522 PPI. The display supports Dolby Vision, HDR 10+ and is also rated A+ from display mate. This is a 10Bit panel, so supports 1 billion colors for a more prominent color depth.

While the Samsung Galaxy S22 features a 6.1-inch of FHD+ display with a resolution of 1080×2340 resolution. This is a 120Hz panel with support for HDR10+ and a maximum brightness of 1300nits, while Xiaomi can go upto 1500nits. On the protection front, Samsung is ahead with its IP68 rating and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ and Xiaomi 12 Pro comes with Gorilla Glass Victus and lacks an IP rating. 

Performance & Software

The Xiaomi 12 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 both feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The Xiaomi 12 Pro is clocked at higher 3.0 GHz while the S22 maxes out on 2.8Ghz for its most powerful CPU core. On the GPU department, we get Adreno 730 GPU. Xiaomi 12 Pro in Nepal will provide you with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM along with 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, while we only have an 8GB/256GB variant of the Samsung Galaxy S22 available in Nepal.

Samsung Galaxy S22 and Xiaomi 12 Pro both runs on the latest Android 12 out of the box. Samsung also promises 4 years of Android updates along with 5 years of security upgrades which is the best among any other Android brand. While Xiaomi is also not that behind, Xiaomi has promised 3 years of Android updates along with 4 years of security updates on the Xiaomi 12 Pro. On top of Android 12, both are running their own custom UI, we get One UI 4.1 on the Galaxy S22 whereas the Xiaomi 12 Pro runs on MIUI 13. 

Camera 

Xiaomi 12 Pro features a triple camera setup at the back with a  50MP f/1.9 primary camera. The lens here has Dual Pixel PDAF with OIS. It is the Sony IMX 707 sensor. The next one is a 50MP f/1.9 telephoto lens which supports PDAF and supports 2X optical zoom. While the last one is also a 50MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and 115˚ field of view. The device can record 8K videos upto 24fps while 4K can go upto 60 fps. While at the front we have a 32 MP, f/2.5 camera with 4K video recording at 60fps. 

Whereas the Samsung Galaxy S22 featured a triple camera setup where the main camera is a 50MP  f/1.8 aperture that supports OIS. There is a 10MP, f/2.4 aperture telephoto lens with OIS support and 3x optical zoom. Completing the triple camera setup, there is a 12 MP, f/2.2 aperture ultrawide camera with an angle view of 120˚ plus, it also supports Super Steady video recording. The main camera can record videos up to 8K@24fps & 4K@30/60fps. While at the front, there is a 10MP, f/2.2 aperture single selfie camera with Dual Pixel Autofocus that can record videos up to 4K@30/60fps. 

Battery 

In the battery department, Xiaomi 12 Pro features a larger 4600mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The good thing is, the 120W fast charger is provided in the box. While the Samsung Galaxy S22 features a 3700mAh battery with 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging, though the charger is not provided in the box.
