For users of YouTube Music, the inclusion of offline downloads on the web app is a notable improvement. Previously, this feature was limited to the mobile app, leaving desktop users without the ability to access their favorite music and podcasts offline.
How do Offline Downloads work?
Downloading music for offline listening on the YouTube Music web app is a straightforward process. Users can navigate to the album or single page of their desired content and locate the download button placed prominently between the “Save to library” option and the three-dot overflow menu. Once initiated, a “Downloading…” indicator appears in the bottom-left corner, providing users with visual feedback on the download progress.
Once downloaded, users can access their offline music collection through the new Downloads tab on the Library page. This tab organizes downloaded content into playlists, podcasts, songs, and albums, simplifying the management of offline music libraries.
Despite the convenience of offline downloads, it’s important to note certain limitations. Downloads remain accessible as long as the user’s device has an active internet connection at least once every 30 days.
